Edward Skills at 5★

Might: 16 Range: 1
Accelerates Special trigger (cooldown count-1).
At start of combat, if unit's HP ≥ 25%, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+X to unit (X = 25% of foe's Atk at start of combat, - 4; max 14; min 5), neutralizes effects that inflict "Special cooldown charge -X" on unit, reduces the percentage of foe's non-Special "reduce damage by X%" skills by 50% (excluding area- of-effect Specials), and grants Special cooldown count-1 to unit before foe's first attack during combat. At start of combat, if unit's HP ≥ 25%, reduces damage from foe's attacks by Y during combat (when foe's attack triggers foe's Special, Y = 16; when foe's attack does not trigger foe's Special, Y = 8; excluding area-of-effect Specials), and unit's next attack deals damage = total damage reduced from foe's first attack (by any source, including other skills). Resets at end of combat.

Cooldown Count = 3
If unit's Spd ≥ foe's Spd-4 and unit's Special is ready or unit's Special triggered during combat, deals damage = 15% of unit's Spd. When Special triggers, reduces damage from foe's attack by 40%. (Special triggers only if unit's Spd ≥ foe's Spd-4.)

At the start of turn 1, if foe's attack can trigger unit's Special, grants Special cooldown count-2. Inflicts Spd/Def-4 on foe during combat. If a skill compares unit's Spd to a foe's or ally's Spd, treats unit's Spd as if granted +7. If unit's Spd > foe's Spd, reduces damage from attacks during combat and from area-of-effect Specials (excluding Røkkr area-of-effect Specials) by percentage = difference between stats x 5 (max 50%).

For allies within 2 spaces of unit, restores X HP to that ally as their combat begins (triggers after effects that deal damage as combat begins; if ally's Def > foe's Def, X = 20% of ally's max HP + difference between stats × 4; otherwise, X = 20% of ally's max HP; max 40% of ally's max HP + damage dealt to ally as combat begins; only highest value applied; does not stack).
For allies within 2 spaces of unit, grants Def+4 and reduces the effect of 【Deep Wounds】by 50% during combat.
If unit is within 2 spaces of an ally, restores X HP to unit as unit's combat begins (triggers after effects that deal damage as combat begins; if unit's Def > foe's Def, X = 20% of unit's max HP + difference between stats × 4; otherwise, X = 20% of unit's max HP; max 40% of unit's max HP + damage dealt to unit as combat begins; only highest value applied; does not stack).
If unit is within 2 spaces of an ally, grants Def+4 to unit and reduces the effect of【Deep Wounds】by 50% during combat.

Atk (13) Attack Boon ★★★★☆
Spd (11) No Spd IV ★★★★★

◯ = Stat gains +4 with a superboon, ✕= Stat goes down by -4 with a superbane, - = No assets or flaws

See the IV Checker for All Units Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs

When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.

+Spd / -Res

The best IVs for Edward are +Spd and -Res. Boosting Spd allows Edward to keep up with the fastest metagame units, preventing follow-up attacks done against him and potentially outspeeding his foes and creating follow-up attacks of his own.

Edward's Res is a clear dump stat and no amount of investment will protect him against heavy magic damage.

+Spd for a +10 merge

We recommend +Spd when merging Edward up to +10 to retain his Spd edge against his foes.

Edward is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Edward Strengths

Caladbolg has damage reflection and other useful effects

Edward Attack Fire Emblem Heroes FEH

Edward's exclusive sword Caladbolg neutralizes effects that slow down Edward's Special charges, cuts his foe's non-Special percentage-based damage reduction in half, and grants him Special cooldown count -1 before his foe's first attack.

In combat, Caladbolg grants Edward bonus Atk/Spd/Def/Res up to +14, true damage reduction of either 8 or 16 based on his foe's equipped Special, and bonus damage based on the amount of damage reduced (from all sources) from his foe's first attack.

While these effects aren't exactly gamebreaking, combining all of them into one weapon skill makes Edward deceptively bulky and versatile enough to compete with most units.

Edward Weaknesses

Saturation

Edward is yet another speedy sword infantry unit in a game filled with similar units.

It may be difficult to find room on your team for Edward while ensuring that the team has ample coverage for a wide variety of foes.

Edward as a Source Hero

Edward Avatar

Value of Skills ★★★★★

Edward has Godlike Reflexes, Buffer 4, and Breath of Life 4 as inheritance options.

Breath of Life 4 is a metagame counter to pre-combat damage effects that are very common in PvP modes, and should be the priority skill to acquire.

I don't care how the scores are done. No way this character is a B, comparatively speaking, especially with all of the old, non competitive heroes I've seen here still with scores of A or S. With the prf weapon, new C skill, & GLR (still a decent skill to pass on for some heroes...attuned caeda, for example), with skill inheritance, he's an A, IMO.
