+Spd/-Res

The best IVs for Summer Joshua are +Spd and -Res. A higher Spd stat allows Summer Joshua to get a ton of follow-up attacks on his foes. Additionally, his Spd is a superboon so you should take advantage of that as much as possible. His Res is of less importance and thus safe to be taken as a bane.

+Spd for a +10 Merge

We recommend a +Spd IV when merging Summer Joshua to 10. It is best to aim for follow-up attacks to increase his offensive ability as his Atk combined with his Def debuffs is already high. If you prefer relying on skills to increase Joshua's Spd, you can go for a +Atk IV instead.

Summer Joshua is a ranged physical attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Summer Joshua Strengths

Inflicts an In-Combat Spd/Def Debuff

Coral Bow+ inflicts -5 Spd/Def on foes within 2 spaces during combat. This increases Summer Joshua's damage and somewhat improves his durability as he will be less susceptible to follow-up attacks. It works in both phases and this adds to Summer Joshua's versatility.

Fling Allies into Combat and Buff Them Simultaneously!

Atk/Spd Link 3 buffs Summer Joshua and any ally who uses a movement-assist skill or receives one from Joshua by +6 Atk/Spd. Since Summer Joshua has access to Shove, he can make use of this skill to push an ally deep into enemy danger zones while providing them with buffs.

Can Fill-in as a Support Unit!

In addition to Atk/Spd Link 3, Summer Joshua has access to Fortify Def 3. It is a very easy-to-use skill that grants adjacent allies +4 Def at the start of the turn. When used in conjunction with the rest of his skills, Summer Joshua can grant a total of +4 Def, +6 Atk/Spd whilst using Shove to fling allies to an ideal position for taking down foes!
