See the IV Checker for All Units | Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs |
When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
As a hero obtainable only through Grand Hero Battle, Petrine will always have neutral IVs by default. The only way to access IVs for this unit is through using Trait Fruits.
The best IVs for Petrine are +Spd and -Res. Petrine has great base Spd and getting a +Spd IV helps her both avoid follow-up attacks and score some of her own. She is a great follow-up attacker as she has other tools to great a gap in Spd. Taking a bane in Def will harm her as it is a superbane and Ignis relies on Def to deal more damage. We recommend just taking a bane in Res. Just make sure to stay clear off magic units.
We recommend a +Spd IV when merging Petrine to 10. This is for the same reasons as above. With it, she can reach an amazing 47 Spd. You can also go for a +Atk IV if you prefer scoring one-shots on beast units and other units with low Res stats.

SP: 400 | |
Might: 16 Range: 1 HP: 3 Effective against beast foes. Grants Spd+3. At start of combat, if unit's HP ≥ 25%, calculates damage using foe's Res, inflicts Atk-4 and Spd/Res-5 on foe during combat, and neutralizes effects that guarantee foe's follow-up attacks and effects that prevent unit's follow-up attacks during combat. If unit initiates combat or the number of allies adjacent to unit ≤ 1, inflicts Atk/Spd/Res-4 on foe, inflicts penalty on foe's Atk/Spd/Res = current bonus on each of foe's stats × 2 (calculates each stat penalty independently; example: if foe has +7 bonus to Atk, inflicts Atk-18, for a net penalty of Atk-11), and reduces damage from foe's first attack by 30% during combat, and unit's next attack deals damage = 30% of foe's attack damage prior to reductions (resets at end of combat; only highest value applied; does not stack). :500 :200 |
|
Refined Flame Lance is still effective against beast foes and still targets the foe's Res stat if Petrine meets the HP threshold.
In combat, refined Flame Lance now inflicts Atk-8, Spd/Res-9 on Petrine's foe during combat, inflicts additional stat penalties on her foe during combat based on their visible stat bonuses, and grants Petrine a Null Follow-Up effect, 30% damage reduction on her foe's first attack, and damage reflection on Petrine's next attack equal to 30% of her foe's Atk prior to reductions.
These effects cripple Petrine's enemies further and improves her damage output, giving her a greater chance of knocking out her foes in one round of combat.

Note: Stats bonuses from skills are not taken into account.
Petrine is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage she deals will be equivalent to her Atk minus the foe's Def stat.
Flame Lance is effective against beast foes. This makes Petrine stand out as there are only a few units with weapons strong against beast units. If her HP is at least 50%, it inflicts -5 Spd/Res on foe during combat so taking out beast units with one swipe would not be uncommon for Petrine.
Yes, Flame Lance inflicts a -Res debuff. The significance of this will be discussed in the next sections.
As long as Petrine's HP is at least 50%, she will calculate damage using the foe's Res stat. This improves her ability to take out beast units as the most powerful beast units in Caineghis, Tibarn and Pirate Tibarn all have low Res stats that Petrine can easily exploit.
As both the debuff and this unique effect requires Petrine to have at least 50% HP, we recommend having support units ready to heal Petrine. Ironically, the best units in supporting Petrine are the beast supports Reyson and Leanne. Both match Petrine's 3-space movement and they posses both a refresher-assist skill and a passive heal.
When refined, Flame Lance now inflicts Atk-8, Spd/Res-9 on Petrine's foe during combat, inflicts additional stat penalties on her foe during combat based on their visible stat bonuses, and grants Petrine a Null Follow-Up effect, 30% damage reduction on her foe's first attack, and damage reflection on Petrine's next attack equal to 30% of her foe's Atk prior to reductions.
Threat. Atk/Def 2 might be an odd skill in Petrine's kit, but it has its uses. Without support, Petrine will eventually reach below 50% HP as battles go by. The -4 Atk/Def debuff will kick-in at the point of battle where Atk/Spd Push 3 has been used up and Petrine has already been damaged in previous fights—putting her well below 50% HP. It is also most likely that at this point, Petrine is deep into enemy danger zones so this AoE Atk debuff is her safety net once Petrine's other gimmicks have already been used up.
Despite this safety net, this is not ideal if Petrine is your main source of damage. Always try keeping her above 50% HP if not 100% HP!
Petrine's Res only sits at 24 at Lv.40. This makes it slightly easy for magic users to take her out. Be mindful of Petrine's positioning in relation to magical units that can easily take her out.
If not take her out, they can put her below Flame Lance's HP range with one swipe. If that happens, you would have to make adjustments to your strategy so be wary!
Petrine takes 1.5x damage from cavalry-effective weapons like Ridersbane, and one blow from this type of weapon is sure to take her down. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!

Petrine can be used to inherit the skill Atk/Spd Push 3. However, you can only acquire Petrine from Grand Hero Battles or from using Heroic Grails. She is also a unique and powerful hero both skill and stat-wise. This makes her a great candidate for a +10 Heroic Grail unit, so think carefully before foddering her off!
Petrine is a Hero who, for a limited time, can be obtained through completing a Grand Hero Battle for the first time. They do not appear in regular summons. After the event has ended, they can be obtained by using Heroic Grails.
