Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs

When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.

Neutral IVs by default!

As a hero obtainable only through Tempest Trials, Joshua will always have neutral IVs by default. The only way to access IVs for this unit is through using Trait Fruits.

+Spd/-Res

The best IVs for Joshua are +Spd and -Res. A higher Spd stat allows him to nail follow-up attacks in the enemy phase as he cannot score them due to Windsweep His Res is of less importance and thus safe to be taken as a bane.

Additionally, Windsweep's trigger condition relies on Joshua having a high Spd stat.

+Spd for a +10 Merge

We recommend a +Spd IV when merging Joshua to 10. This is for the same reasons as above. With this IV, she can reach 42 Spd which is at a range wherein he can trigger Windsweep 3 consistently with help of some allied buffs. It also allows him to land follow-up attacks in the enemy phase.

How to Use, Explanation

This budget build for Joshua simply adds a few inexpensive pieces to run a Winsweep setup. With this build, he can attack foes in the player phase without receiving damage and Phantom Spd 3 helps him win the Spd check. In the enemy phase, its up to his stats, Close Def 3 and the huge Res boost from Audhulma to keep him alive. Keeping him alive is key for Threaten Def 3

to trigger.

How to Use, Explanation

This is a simple Fury + Wrath combo that is perfect for both phases. Fury self-damage will make it easier for Joshua to fall into Wrath's range.

Joshua is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Joshua Strengths

Great Base Stats

Joshua's sports some great stats and these include a Spd of 35, Def of 30, and a Res of 33 when Audhulma is equipped. His HP and Atk is at 40 and 47 respectively which are both great values as well. He boasts a 185 total at 5★ at Lv. 40 which is not bad at all.

Strong Against Dragonstone Units in the Enemy Phase

The cherry on top of Joshua's great defenses are Audhulma's +5 Res and Close Def 3's +6 Def/Res when being attacked by a melee unit. Additionally, since Audhulma accelerates Joshua's special trigger and Moonbow is a low-cooldown special, he is a complete nightmare against dragonstone units and some physical melee units in the enemy phase. More likely than not, the units that will attack Joshua are going to take a Moonbow-charged strike from him.

Access to a simple, yet effective Special Effect Refine

Joshua Weaknesses

No Follow-ups in the Player Phase

Windsweep 3 protects Joshua from some counterattacks, but he cannot perform follow-up attacks when he initiates combat. Be sure that you are aware of the pros and cons of Windsweep 3 and integrate them into your strategy so that you may be able to utilize Joshua to his full potential.
