Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Walkthrough Comments
Yeah, I used that combo a lot in the beginning. I guess the game kind of promotes you do that... until you discover how broken Riki is for gem crafting... Holy cow. Riki/Reyn combo consistently surpass 450% and 2 out of 10 they go beyond 550% for me, it's nuts. They haven't failed a single time for me yet in breaking the 300% barrier.
Riki shoots twice while the rest of characters shoot once, that's why he can shoot 20-30 times respect to the other characters who shoot 10-15 times with max affinity, that's why using any character for gem crafting but Riki is a waste of time unless you are looking for cylinders, in which case Sharla is the best with Riki as engineer. Riki/Reyn with blue affinity can do as well as Shulk/Reyn with pink affinity, so imagine how broken Riki is for gem crafting.
Riki/Reyn and Sharla/Riki. Those two combinations are the best possible to get gems and cylinders respectively. Riki/Reyn consistently get beyond 450% and many times beyond 550%. I still haven't seen a single time they didn't break through the 300% barrier, even using 102% they get easily to 340-370% which is nuts. Sharla/Riki is a beast conbo for cylinders, easily 7-9 each time, even gems with 4 attributes at 98% can be divided into cylinders easily.
I meant rank VI gems.
Well said. But the way I do it for the cylinders are different. I use Seven as the shooter for the 3 cylinder gauges (which is enough if you only want 1 attribute to turn to a cylinder anyway) then Melia (to increase the cylinder's percent by a small amount via medium flame. For crafting them to Rank VI cylinders, I use Shulk and Reyn too. This works better if Melia and Seven has low affinity with each other.
[part 2] them a little along the way. Stop increasing a cylinder once it gets over 90%. 3. With 2 cylinders of the same attribute both over 90%, shoot with Shulk and Reyn as the engineer, highest affinity. Using Shulk's Fever skill link helps a lot. I've reached up to 411% while crafting. Save often along the process and reload if necessary to avoid wasting near perfect materials. This is how you craft Double Perfect LV6 gems.
My method for getting only 300%+ gems: 1. Split gems into cylinders. Choose 4 attributes rated 60% and lower. Shoot with Sharla and Shulk as the engineer, high affinity. You should end up with 4 cylinders rated 40-70%. 2. Slowly crank up the cylinders. Choose cylinders of 2 different attributes. Shoot with Sharla and Riki as the engineer, low affinity (3-5 turns). Sometimes you'll gain nothing, but you should almost always still end up 2 cylinders, sometimes increasing [...]
Dunban on a steady flame with high player affinity level
What is wrong with these guys? The duo for gentle flames is clearly Sharla shooter with Riki engineer, That set up with Riki and Shulk will just manage to screw you over half of the time.
When you start the gem crafting, you're going to see the amount of rounds, Riki can do the process multiple times in a single round so a 3 round process for riki happens like 9 times. Not a native English speaker sorry.
So does it mean than every round, Riki does multiple enhancements?
Riki is the best shooter, you can't change my mind.
