Collect in Sword Valley
Red Frontier is a common collectible in Sword Valley. But the area becomes inaccessible so make sure to get some Red Frontiers in Sword Valley when it becomes available before moving on with the story.
Trade for Nopon Stones
Red Frontiers can be obtained from the Nopon Archsage by trading him Nopon Stones.
Trade With Rizaka in Hidden Village
A Red Frontier can be obtained by trading with Rizaka in Frontier Village. The item will only appear if you have a 5 star affinity with the village.

I just recently spent a long time collecting orbs for this on sword valley. out of 450 item orbs collected,9 were red frontiers. so about 2%. monado wound, radio tower, and the roof of enalda control base have good drops, but they were found randomly with the most being found in monado wound.
