When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
The best IVs for Clair are +Atk and -HP. Clair's Atk stat is pretty bad for an attacker so you should raise it as much as you can. It's the only thing holding her back as her Spd is respectable. Additionally, her Atk is a superboon so you should take advantage of it as much as possible. Like many units, HP is not of importance to her so you can safely take it as her bane.
We recommend a +Atk IV when merging Clair to 10. This is for the same reasons as above. This will help her take out enemies when she scores follow-up attacks with her great Spd. Take note that her special effect refine is similar to the effects of Flashing Blade 3. This means that it relies on her having a high Spd to trigger. You can consider getting a +Spd IV too, but we recommend that you rely on buffs from allies to raise her Spd instead.

This build has Clair use her exclusive weapon skill Rhomphaia. Using the standard Fury-Desperation duo will max out Clair’s stats, making her a very easy to use unit. Def Smoke 3 will debuff the enemy team, though you can also opt to use another Smoke skill or a Joint Drive Skill.

This skillset has you inherit Firesweep Lance and Swift Sparrow. Clair is lacking in the way of Atk and Def, so Firesweep Lance is a good option to prevent enemy counterattacks. In order to make use of her high Res stat, a Ploy skill will be used to lower the foe’s defensive stats. This should ensure many foes fall by preventing their counterattack, allowing Clair to strike twice.

This build requires you to give Clair Distant Counter and Dull Ranged 3. In order to make the most of Clair’s high Res stat, have her take an attack from a mage and then take down that foe with a counterattack. She will not be of much use up against physical attackers, so make sure to have another unit ready to fill this role and get the most out of your team.

SP: 400 | |
Might: 16 Range: 1 HP: +3 Effective against armored and cavalry foes. If unit’s Spd > foe’s Spd, grants Special cooldown charge +1 per unit’s attack. (Only highest value applied. Does not stack.) :500 :200 |

It is similar to the effects of Flashing Blade 3. Having her special sped up is great for her as she can not rely on her raw Atk stat alone to deal damage. Conveniently, her Spd is at a decent enough level to take advantage of this skill.
This makes stacking a ton of Spd onto Clair a great idea. Spd does not only increase her chance of speeding-up her special attack, but it also allows her to score more follow-up attacks which not only mean more damage, but they also speed-up her special cooldown further!

Note: Stats bonuses from skills are not taken into account.
Clair is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage she deals will be equivalent to her Atk minus the foe's Def stat.
Rhomphaia is a unique lance in the sense that it is effective against both armored and cavalry units. Those two are not the most common unit types, but since Clair covers both of them, this effect becomes very reliable. This is not without drawbacks though as Clair possesses an awful Atk stat. It can be said that Rhomphaia is the redeeming factor in Clair's offensive ability.
As mentioned, Clair has an awful Atk stat, this means she heavily relies on other means such has her Spd stat and special attack to deal damage. Conveniently, Rhomphaia's special effect refine magnifies these strengths of hers. Getting this upgrade on top of other investments fixes Clair's weakness and makes her a good, well-rounded flier. You can read more about this upgrade in the special effect refine section.
Clair's B skill, Hit and Run, moves Clair a space backward if she initiates combat. This allows for some pretty useful interactions such as having an ally use Drag Back on her. If the unit she attacked is an armored unit, they will not be able to hit Clair in the next phase. Units in the back line of the enemy who can normally attack an initiating ally can also lose reach of Clair.
It is a lackluster skill without the strategy, but if you put some thought into it, Hit and Run can win you some maps.
As a flying unit, Clair takes 1.5x damage from bows and weapons effective on flying units. Be sure to keep them out of the range of archers and leave them to other units.

Ah, there you are, my fine friend {Summoner}! I was just thinking how nice it would be to see your face. Why, you ask? I suppose I’ve taken a liking to you. Is there something so very strange about that? Yes? No? Perhaps? Well, let’s throw caution to the wind. It’s undeniable we have a bond. It’s quite mysterious, and perhaps even fate. But I hope you don’t misunderstand. My heart’s fondest affections are reserved for Alm— Oh! Please forget I said that. Still, here is what I meant to say. You have somehow become very dear to me. That is all. |
