Stat | Superboon/Superbane | IV Recommendation |
---|---|---|
HP (18) | ★★☆☆☆ | |
Atk (19) | ★★★☆☆ | |
Spd (11) | ★★★★☆ | |
Def (7) | ★★★★★ | |
Res (6) | ★★★☆☆ |
◯ = Stat gains +4 with a superboon, ✕= Stat goes down by -4 with a superbane, - = No assets or flaws
See the IV Checker for All Units | Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs |
When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
The best IVs for Thea are +Def and -HP. Thea is mainly deployed as a physical tank so it makes the most sense to take a +Def IV. With this IV, she will reach 34 Def in without skills. If she is attacked in the enemy phase, her Def will reach 45 through her default skills. Her HP is of less importance so it can be safely taken as a bane.
We recommend a +Spd IV when merging Thea to 10. At +10 Merges, Thea's Def will reach such high levels that pushing it up higher is a waste, considering she has access to Vanguard+ and Steady Posture 2. At this point, it would be better to opt with a +Spd IV instead to help her take less follow-up attacks and allow her to make some follow-up attacks on her own. At max merges, she reaches 42 Spd which is already a fair range.
You can still go for a +Def IV if you prefer! Take note that it is now easier to switch between IVs because of the release of Trait Fruits.

This build takes advantage of the natural tankiness of the unit in tandem with Quick Riposte 3 to enable them to deal tons of damage in the enemy phase. Iote's Shield is vital for dealing with bow units.

If for some reason you need to run Thea as a support, you can run this build. This build is relatively cheap as Wagasa+ is available from New Year's Laegjarn in the Heroic Grail shop.

Thea's Icy Maltet works best with 10 Dragonflowers to allow its refine's Bonus Doubler to work without supports. Atk/Def Unity also helps to negate any penalties to her already boosted Atk and Def.

Thea's Icy Maltet can also be used with just 5 Dragonflowers for the Guard effect or even 1 Dragonflower for the large combat boosts. This build focuses on maximizing the Bonus Doubler effect to work with Flow Flight 3 while conserving Dragonflowers.
Exclusive Weapon Effect from Refining (Special Effect Type) | |
---|---|
SP: 400 | |
Might: 16 Range: 1 HP: 3 At start of turn, if unit has been enhanced using Dragonflowers ten or more times, grants Atk/Def+6 for 1 turn. If foe initiates combat or if foe's HP ≥ 75% at start of combat, grants bonus to Atk/Spd/Def/Res during combat based on the number of times unit has been enhanced using Dragonflowers (one or more times grants +5, max; zero times grants +4), and also, if unit has been enhanced using Dragonflowers five or more times, inflicts Special cooldown charge -1 on foe per attack. (Only highest value applied. Does not stack.) If unit is within 3 spaces of an ally, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 to unit during combat and grants bonus to Atk/Spd/Def/Res during combat = current bonus on each of unit's stats. Calculates each stat bonus independently. :500 :200 |
|
While Thea's Icy Maltet is nowhere near Brave Hector's Maltet, it is still Thea's best option for a weapon refine.
The special effect refine grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 during combat as well as a Bonus Doubler effect. The bonus stats alone are better than any of the other refine options, and the Bonus Doubler effect basically ups the power of Icy Maltet even further.
Most of this weapon's effects are tied down to Dragonflower investment. For maximum results, ensure that Thea has been invested with Dragonflowers.

Note: Stats bonuses from skills are not taken into account.
Thea is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage she deals will be equivalent to her Atk minus the foe's Def stat.
Thea has the weapon Vanguard+, which will give her Def+7 when the foe initiates combat. This will reduce the damage taken from physical attackers and make her better at tanking attacks in the enemy phase.
Additionally, this increases the damage she deals from Ignis if it activates in the enemy phase.
Thea's A skill Steady Posture gives her Spd/Def+4 whenever the foe initiates combat. Combined with Vanguard+, her Def can reach 45 if she is with a +Def IV. This allows her not only to tank huge amounts of damage from physical opponents, but it also increases the damage she deals with Ignis.
The +4 Spd cannot be overlooked! This helps her defensively by making it less likely to receive follow-up attacks. Of course, it also helps her nail follow-up attacks on her own. If she is at max merges or her Spd is being backed by friendly buffs like Goad Fliers, she makes for a great enemy phase unit.
Thea's B skill, Seal Spd/Def 2, inflicts -5 Spd/Def to foes after Thea attacks them. Because the debuff is placed after Thea's attack, she will be ready to finish them off in the enemy phase if they retaliate and Thea lands a counterattack. It can also be inflicted by Thea in the enemy phase so she will be ready to capitalize in the upcoming player phase. If she also has allies nearby, they can take advantage of this debuff as well!
Thea's Res sits at a fair base 28. This might seem fair at first, but Vanguard+ and Steady Posture 2 only provides Def and not Res. This means that Thea is heavily designed to take physical damage over magical damage despite the small difference between base Def and base Res.
However, as stated, 28 is a fair base Res so if you intergrate skills liked Ward Fliers and Fortify Fliers into Thea's party, she can definitely take lots of hits from a variety of units whether physical or magical.
As a flying unit, Thea takes 1.5x damage from bows and weapons effective on flying units. Be sure to keep them out of the range of archers and leave them to other units.
Even though she boasts a high Def stat, bow users can still deal heavy damage to her. Try to keep said units from attacking Thea!

I’d like to have a word with you, {Summoner}! During the last battle, you put me in the rear, on standby! Why? It doesn’t matter if the enemy wields bows. I am a soldier. Where you need me, I go. I trust you, and I rely on your orders, so, please—trust in me as well. No matter where the fight takes us, I will be there to intercept any attack. I hope you know you can rely on me. Well then!
