What to Do with Commodities

Use for Crafting and Smuggling

Commodities can be used to craft certain items that you can use to smuggle to certain areas and settlements. You can craft these items inside the Helm, which is unlocked after completing A Tight Ship Contract.

Smuggling Comodities

You can take on tasks from the Supply Network to deliver Commodities to different settlements. Doing so will reward you with Pieces of Eight, which you can use to upgrade your smuggling ring or purchase rare items in the Black Market.

Sell to Vendors

You can sell Commodities directly to some vendors if you are in need of Silver. Note that the Commidity must be transferred to your cargo for you to be able to sell it.

Purchase or Plunder from Settlements

Commodities can be obtained by buying them or raiding them from settlements. You can hover over settlements found on your map to see which commodities and other materials you can obtain from them.

Loot from Merchant Ships

You can also obtain Commodities by targeting ships along trade routes that are tied to certain factions. Use your Spyglass to check on the possible loot you can obtain from enemy ships before engaging in naval battle.
