All treasure maps lead to treasure located exclusively in outposts in Skull and Bones. Learn how to find and dig up treasure and a map for all possible treasure locations in this guide!

Whether Old or Recent, all Treasure Maps will have treasure located at Outposts, since those are the only places you can walk on land (outside of Dens). With Old Treasure Maps, you'll need to match the map drawing with the header drawing depicted on the Outpost when you hover over it on your map. For Recent Treasure Maps, you'll need to match the geographical outline drawn on the map with your in-game map to find the location.
Use the above map to find the geographical outline of the location you're looking for with Recent Treasure Maps. You can also click any of the Outpost icons to see its map drawing and match it with your Old Treasure Map.
To begin treasure hunting, you'll first need to obtain a Treasure Map, which can be looted off from enemy ships or given to you as Contract Items by NPCs.
You can use your Spyglass to scan the inventory of an enemy and see if they have a treasure map on them.
Examining the treasure map shows a clue, again, depending on the type of treasure map you've obtained. Old Treasure Maps will have a drawing of the outpost, while Recent Treasure Maps will have a drawing of the geographical outline of the outpost.
Both treasure maps should also at least hint at the location name and region of the treasure, as well as indicate in the top right corner the exact spot of where you can dig up the treasure chest.

Treasure Map Drawing |
Using the Spyglass on an Outpost displays its hand drawn image on the upper right corner and you can use this to match the drawing on your treasure map to confirm the correct treasure location. However, you could also use the ▲interactive treasure map locations above so you don't have to sail to each and every island.
This method is useful for Old Treasure Maps since it only shows a facade drawing of the island containing the treasure and not a geographical drawing.
Proceed to the outpost and dock your ship there. You will also get a pop-up notification that you are on the correct island containing the hidden buried treasure once you disembark from your ship.

Treasure Landmark Spot |
The drawing on the upper right hand of the treasure map shows a landmark of what to look out for on the outpost - this is the exact spot of the buried treasure.
You'll know that it's the right spot once you see a red beam of light shining on the ground as you approach it.
Walk up to the beam of light and dig up the treasure when prompted to retrieve the chest and claim your well-earned rewards!

Recent Treasure Maps | Old Treasure Maps | Legendary Maps |
Recent Treasure Maps are easier to use when treasure hunting since it displays a bird's-eye view drawing of the island containing the treasure. It also dictates the name of the region of where you need to go.
All Recent Treasure Maps and How to Find
Old Treasure Maps are a bit difficult to decipher as they only show a drawing of the location's facade and not a map topography. You will have to check each outpost and see if the drawing on the map is identical to it to correctly identify the location of the treasure.
All Old Treasure Maps and How to Find
Legendary Treasure maps can be obtained by participating in Cutthroat Cargo Hunt world events. This is a PvP event where joining it marks you as a vulnerable target to other participants of the event.
Once you've joined, race over to the event location and retrieve the Legendary Treasure Map floating on the water (marked by a red beam of light) before other players get there.
How to Find Legendary Treasure Maps
Retrieving the Legendary Treasure Map marks the outpost containing the treasure on your map or compass (Skull Icon), even if you've never been to that outpost before!
Make your way over to that outpost and dock there. Look for the buried treasure using the landmark drawing on the treasure map as reference.
Keep in mind that if you have the Legendary Treasure Map, you cannot dock at other outposts. You can only dock your ship at the outpost where the Legendary Treasure is located at.
Take note that fast traveling is disabled until you have landed at the outpost containing the Legendary Treasure. You will receive a notification saying that the Cutthroat Cargo has been secured.
All Fast Travel Point Locations
Legendary Treasures usually contain a lot of loot and it's highly advised that you have enough space in your ship's cargo hold in order to collect all of them.

You might encounter a bug where no prompt to dig up the treasure will occur. When this happens, simply close and relaunch your game to resolve the issue. You should now be able to receive the prompt to dig up the treasure after this.
