Ouroboros is one of the two highest rarity armors, and combined with its great stats, appears to have the best perks out of all the armors.

It has two perks (unlike the other armors that only have one or none), with Amalgamate healing 15% of Hull Health while bracing, and Restoration restoring 100 Severe Damage every second. These healing perks are better than the perks of the other armors.

Before you obtain the high Infamy armors, you'll first have to settle with the basic armors. Out of all the basic armors, the Bastion armors are the best choice. They provide great armor, as well as damage mitigation to Piercing, Fire, and Tearing.

Most enemies use Culverin and Ballista as their weapons, making Piercing the most frequent damage type to encounter and thus the best resistance to have.

The two other resistances are also valuable: Tearing resistance allows you to reduce the time of being immobilized, and the Fire resistance is good to lessen burn damage.

Black Prince is currently the best midgame Armor available for ships thanks to its balanced defensive stats and even boasts higher armor than Ouroboros.

While it lacks flooding damage resistance, high resistance to explosive and piercing damage make it a great choice for taking on Elite Captains or plundering settlements.

This armor is also a great choice for hunting Kuharibu since the sea monster lacks any flooding damage attacks, allowing you to farm the materials it drops to create Ouroboros.

The Royal Custodian is an excellent late game Armor for your ship and serves as an alternative option to the Ouroboros armor. Compared to the Ouroboros, the Royal Custodian offers more resistance to different types of mitigations and has a slightly higher base defense.

This armor is highly recommended for those who just started the lategame since you do not need any materials to craft this as you can get this armor as a drop from one of the merchant ships in the Colonial Shipment world event.
