Sovereigns can be obtained by racking up Pieces of Eight and climbing the game's leaderboard. In this guide, we'll show you the exact steps on how you can get sovereigns.
Before you can earn sovereigns, there are a few things you need to do first. One of them is reaching the Infamy rank of Kingpin.
You can raise your infamy fast by completing main contracts and side contracts, participating in World Events, finding treasures, and discovering new locations among others!
Kingpin Unlocks and Required Infamy
The next thing you need to do is to finish the “A Nose for Business” Contract. Completing this Helm questline will let you set up your Helm empire!
List of All Main Campaign Contracts
Now that your smuggling operations at The Helm is up and running, it's time to get to work and climb the leaderboard to get sovereigns.
The leaderboard is another ranking system in Skull and Bones that is determined by how much Pieces of Eight a player has. The more Pieces of Eight that you have, the higher your ranking is on the leaderboard.
To see your current position on the leaderboard, head to a Smuggler's Hideout in Sainte-Anne or Telok Penjarah and check the Helm Empire Overview.
The leaderboard rankings are split into two: Weekly and Seasonal. Sovereigns are rewarded after reaching a certain Tier in the leaderboard rankings, competing among other players who have attained the Kingpin rank.
The seasonal leaderboard ranking resets after each season, giving all players a chance to reach the top since everyone will start from the bottom rank again!
List of All Seasons (Year 1 Roadmap)
You can rack up Pieces of Eight by smuggling goods through The Helm or Manufactories.
You can use the Pieces of Eight that you earned to further enhance your ship, so you can run your smuggling operations more efficiently. There's no need to worry because spending your Pieces of Eight does not affect your position on the leaderboard.

Some Character cosmetics and Ship cosmetics can only be bought with Sovereigns. You can buy character cosmetics at the Vanity Atelier, and ship cosmetics during ship management on outposts.
Sovereigns can also be spent at the Black Market in Sainte-Anne and Telok Penjarah. Simply talk to Yanita Nara at Le Pont Muet or Houma at Palka Buta if you wish to buy something from the Black Market.
Sovereigns are a rare end-game currency that can be obtained by reaching certain ceilings on the leaderboard. To climb the leaderboard, all you need to do is to earn Pieces of Eight by completing orders for The Helm.
Aim to get more Pieces of Eight to get a higher ranking on the leaderboard and earn more sovereigns.
