Note: You don't need to go down to your ship to salvage shipwrecks. If a prompt doesn't appear as you get closer to a shipwreck, it may mean that another player has already salvaged it. |
To get Flawed Materials, you must first obtain a Crowbar, which will allow you to salvage shipwrecks. Luckily, you'll be able to obtain this tool after completing your very first contract, A Pirate's Deal.
As you progress further in the game, you'll want to upgrade your Crowbar to be able to salvage bigger shipwrecks faster.
Flawed Materials can be obtained by looting shipwrecks found in the open world. You may refer to your Map to spot shipwrecks, but you can also find them randomly on different island coasts.
Once you've spotted a shipwreck, position your ship close enough until a prompt to force it open appears. If you interact with this, a mini-game will pop up wherein you need to tap on a gauge with precise timing to get materials.
If a prompt doesn't appear after getting close to the resource node, it may mean that another player has already gathered it and is set to respawn after some time.
