Early Game Tips

Complete the Main Story Missions

We recommend finishing the Main Quests of the game first so you can get a feel of the game. This also lets you get access to better ships and other resources!

List of All Main Campaign Contracts

Loot the Starting Area

Skull and Bones Starting Area Loot

The starting area has plenty of loot and sharks that you can kill for their meat. Some players even forget to grab the loot after killing a shark so you might as well grab them!

The meat that you can get from these animals can be sold or cooked for provisions later in the game.

Cook Food For Bigger Bonuses

Cooking food is generally better than eating them raw. Grilled food will increase the stamina restored and it only requires one ingredient. Cooked foods on the other hand offer buffs when consumed, but require additional ingredients to make.

Scour Areas of Recent Battles

Skull and Bones Jettisoned Cargo

Battles are inevitable at sea and players sometimes drop cargo that their ship can no longer hold so they can run away or chase another player.

As such, we recommend scouring areas where a battle recently happened so you can loot cargoes other players have dropped.

Manage Your Cargo

Once you return to a pirate den or an outpost after a voyage, store your gathered crafting materials to your warehouse, leaving only items you've decided to sell for silver.

This will free up space on your ship's storage and allows you to store a ton of loot whether from plundering or from gathering.

How to Carry More Cargo

Harvest Raw Materials

Harvest raw materials for ship and ship weapons crafting. Material nodes despawn after you or another player harvests from them, and there will be a cooldown before anyone can start harvesting from them again.

Stock Up on Ammunition

Skull and Bones - Reloading Cannons

Ammunition is used up as you do naval batlles, and it's best to stock up on ammunition before setting sail. Don't hoard too much ammunition as it takes up cargo, denying yourself some loot should you choose to plunder.

Increase Your Infamy

Skull and Bones - High Infamy

Ships, upgrades, and craftable items are locked behind a certain infamy rank. Increase your infamy by completing contracts and events to allow more ways to strengthen your ship and tools.
