Metal Salvage are Flawed Materials that are very common near shipwrecks and sites of battle. Unlike other flawed materials, these still have use even in late game since you can craft Cannonbal Crates with them, which will provide you with 100 Cannonballs.
Make it a habit to loot Metal Salvage whenever you can so you'll always have a healthy stock of basic cannonballs for when you run out of your more specialized ammo!
Your ship crew will often comment about things you encounter in the game, often remarking on the outposts and settlements you pass by or even commenting if you need to upgrade your tools!
We recommend turning on ship subtitles since the crew dialogue can become harder to hear when you're fighting other ships or plundering.

Subtitle Settings | Turn on My Ship in the Subtitles menu |
Turn on the My Ship subtitles will cause subtitles to appear when you crew is talking, and will make it easier for you understand the information they're trying to tell you.
This includes giving a more detailed rundown of ships that you can with your Spyglass, including if the ship that you just scanned has the items you need for the main campaign and side contracts!
Going over your ship capacity will slow you down until you can't move and make you an easier target for hostile ships!
Before setting sail, make sure to only bring necessary items such as ammo, food to keep up your ship speed, and repair kits.
If you need to sell items, make sure to bring only commodities and leave heavier items such as crafting materials and flawed materials in the warehouse.
In Skull and Bones, you will also receive a journal that indicates all active contracts, side-quests, events, and treasure maps. Use this to get a clearer idea of what you need to do next to progress in the game.
Once you have some silver to spare, we recommend purchasing Blueprints first from the merchants and vendors across the world.
Purchasing blueprints unlock weapons, armor, and ships that will soon give you an advantage on the open seas against pirates, privateers, and other dangerous forces you may encounter in the game!
Infamy serves as the experience system in Skull and Bones. With infamy, you can unlock various rewards, including weapons, ships, and other resources for use in your next naval combat.
To earn more Infamy fast, do Main Contracts via campaign progression and Side Contracts via the contract board. You also get infamy by sinking ships, hunting wildlife, plundering settlements, and passively while sailing around.
Skull and Bones will heavily focus on multiplayer gameplay, so playing with friends or others is essential for the best experience. By teaming up with others, you can lessen the difficulty of higher-level contracts and PvP/PvE combat with your party.
