How to Fish

Skull and Bones - How to Fish
Fishing in Skull and Bones works by using weapons such as Hunting Spears and Cannons! See how to spot and catch fish in this guide!

How to Spot Fish in Skull and Bones

Use Your Spyglass

Fish are tiny, and can be hard to spot in the ocean. Access the Spyglass by holding the Spyglass button, and scout for nearby fish and animals.

Use the Spyglass with corresponding buttons on your platform:

PC PlayStation Xbox
R PS4 - R3 Button XBOX - Right Stick Press

Enable Gameplay Closed Captions

You can also modify the game's subtitle settings to display nearby fish and sound sources through Gameplay Closed Captions.

Gameplay Closed Captions inform you what the noise was, and the direction where it came from. Head to Settings > Language > Subtitle Settings to turn it on!

How to Fish in Skull and Bones

Hunt Animals With the Hunting Spear

There is no 'fishing' in Skull and Bones as players can only hunt fish and other animals with weapons to cook meat and refine hides.

Additionally, hunting animals with the Hunting Spear is only advisable when you still only have the Dhow. You can 'fish' more safely as you get better ships and cannons.

Embarking With the Dhow

As the starting ship, the Dhow can get easily damaged by wildlife. Make sure to have enough Repair Kits to stay afloat!

Stun Animals With Timed Attacks

You can interrupt the attacks from animals by timing a charged attack before their attack lands. When timed correctly, not only will their attack be interrupted, but they will also receive bonus damage!

Take aim and shoot with the following buttons for your platform:

PC PlayStation Xbox
Aim: Right Mouse Button

Shoot: Left Mouse Button
Aim: PS4 - L2 Button

Shoot: PS4 - R2 Button
Aim: XBOX - Left Trigger

Shoot: XBOX - Right Trigger

Loot the Animal's Carcass

Like other loot in the sea, animals you have killed float in the water. Do not forget to loot their carcass before leaving!

Upgrade the Hunting Spear

While we do not recommend sticking with Hunting Spear, the Hunting Spear can be upgraded as your infamy increases.

Consider upgrading the Hunting Spear when hunting for hide as well!

Kill Animals With Cannons

Hunting animals with Ship Cannons are a safer option, as they deal more damage and have a bit more range.

Aim and Shoot with Cannons

Similar to the Hunting Spear, take aim and shoot at the creature with the following buttons:

PC PlayStation Xbox
Aim: Right Mouse Button

Shoot: Left Mouse Button
Aim: PS4 - L2 Button

Shoot: PS4 - R2 Button
Aim: XBOX - Left Trigger

Shoot: XBOX - Right Trigger

Once the creature is dead, do not forget to loot its carcass as well!
