Release Date

Early Access Begins February 13

Skull and Bones will have an early access release on February 13, 2024. This three-day early access will only be available for players subscribed to Ubisoft+ or those who have purchased the Premium Edition of the game.

Main Launch on February 16

Skull and Bones will officially be released on February 16, 2024. The game will be available for digital download across all supported platforms and will also have a physical release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

All Release Date Delays

May 2018 Delay

Months before its initially planned Fall 2018 release, Skull and Bones faced its first delay in May 2018. According to Ubisoft, this decision was made to allow the game more time to develop, providing a better gaming experience upon release. During this time, the game was expected to be released within the fiscal year of 2019-2020.

May 2019 Delay

In May 2019, Skull and Bones has been delayed once again, pushing the estimated release date to March 2020. Alongside this setback, Ubisoft revealed that the game would be skipping E3 2019 to focus development and provide of high-quality content upon release.

October 2019 Delay

Just four months after announcing its March 2020 delay, Ubisoft again pushed the release date of the game to sometime after April 2021. This was announced during a conference call with its investors.

May 2021 Delay

In May 2019, Ubisoft provided a new timeline for the release of Skull and Bones. The game is now slated to have its launch within 2022-2023, promising to deliver a better experience on release.

First Official Release Dates

Announced in July 2022, Skull and Bones initially had its first official release date set for November 8, 2022. However, just months after the reveal, Ubisoft announced another delay, pushing the release to March 9, 2023.

January 2023 Delay

Unfortunately, Skull and Bones faced another delay at the start of 2023. Ubisoft stated that the reason for this setback was the poor performances of recent titles. As a consequence, the game received an indefinite release sometime between 2023-2024.

To compensate, Skull and Bones released new footage showcasing all the new updates and improvements since its reveal.

Final Official Date Announcement

Finally, after six delays, Skull and Bones received its final release date of February 16, 2024. This was announced during The Game Awards 2023, accompanied by a new trailer for the game.

When was Skull and Bones Announced?

E3 2017

Skull and Bones was initially announced on June 12, 2017, during Ubisoft's E3 press conference. It was slated to be released the following year, only to be pushed further back to 2024.

Since then, Skull and Bones has expanded its supported platforms and will now also release on Amazon Luna and PlayStation 5, as well as its initial list of platforms, which includes Microsoft Windows, and Xbox Series X/S. PlayStation 4 has also been dropped from the list to prioritize next-gen consoles, while Google Stadia was dropped due to its shutdown.
