| 2 | Talk to Yachiyo again to submit a dish |

On the day of the Cooking Contest, go to the Autumn God Shrine Plaza at the Autumn Village between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM and talk to Yachiyo. There will be a lot of people gathering at the plaza when the contest is about to start.
If you do not talk to Yachiyo before 9 AM, the contest will be cancelled automatically.

When you're ready to submit the Dish you've prepared, talk to Yachiyo again. Your inventory will open, showing all the eligible dishes in your inventory. Select the desired item and submit it for the contest. Take note that the item you select will be removed from your inventory.
Kurama will then judge your dish, and you will be given a score depending on the dish you prepared. You have until 7:00 PM to submit your chosen item.
If you do not have an eligible dish on hand, you can cook at any teahouse, izakaya, fireplace, or bonfire. However, since Yachiyo is busy hosting the event, you cannot cook at Yachiyo's Izakaya during the Cooking Contest.

The higher the dish level you submit, the more points you can get. However, not all dishes can increase their level. The dish level is dependent on the level of ingredients used to make it, so only dishes that use crops and certain barn produce can become a high level dish.

If the dish recipe includes crops, milk, eggs, or honey, you can change the level of the ingredients as long as you have the higher level ingredients on hand.
By default, cooking will use the lowest level of the ingredient that you have. However, you can change this by pressing the button for Change Materials. Select the ingredient you want to modify. Remove the currently selected ingredient variant by making the amount 0, then set the amount for the ingredient with the level you want.
You also have the option to use higher tier ingredients such as giant crops, but this does not appear to affect the dish level. It's best to choose the ingredient with the highest level rather than the highest tier.
How to Increase Crop and Seed Levels

If you haven't gotten a chance to grow high level crops or obtain high level barn produce, it may be easier to submit a unique dish. Unique dishes are special modified versions of certain recipes made by cooking together with a character.
You can prepare someone's signature dish once you reach Bond Level 6 with them, as this will unlock the ability to cook together in a building where you can make meals.
You also need to own the base recipe before you can make the signature dish.
List of Unique Recipes and Dishes

Only items in the Dishes category of the cooking menu are eligible to be submitted for the Cooking Contest. Items in the Snacks, Quick Meals, Ingredients, and Liquor categories cannot be submitted in this contest.

If you manage to get first place in the Cooking Contest, you will be given a Valuable Medal that can be sold for money.

You can also receive Rice if you win the Cooking Contest. However, Onigiri may be rewarded instead if you do not place 1st.
Completing the Cooking Contest will increase your Village Happiness, as well as reward you with Gold based on your placement in the contest.
