Pick Preferred Choices During Hangouts

Hangout Choices

Whenever you choose to hangout with a character, you will get four choices of what you can do with them during that time.

Each character has their own preferred way of spending time with you, which increases Bond Level by lot or stay on the same level if they dislike the activity. Choosing a hangout choice with a higher level than the character's current Bond Level will decrease the meter, so be sure to choose a choice that is on the same level or lower level.

You have an option to refresh the activities during a hangout if you think that the character won't like any of the current choices. You can only choose to hangout with a character once per day, so try to make it count!

There are more hangout options that you can unlock under the Social Activity skill tree under Practical Abilities. You can get experience points for these by simply hanging out with characters in the game.

You can also give characters items from your inventory to increase your Bond Level with them. Note that unlike hangout choices, a character's bonding level will decrease if you give them a gift that they dislike or hate.

A quick way to increase Bond Level with any character is by simply choosing to chat with them every single day. Unlike hangouts, there are no penalties to your Bond Level with a character as you do not need to choose anything.

Include Characters in Your Party

Including a character in your party will also raise your Bond Level with them as you explore locations in the map. You can even get bonuses if you include characters that are tied to the current village you are exploring.

You may also cook and eat meals with characters to raise your Bond Level with them. These activities will not only help you stock up on items, but can also create a greater bond with a character you want.

Complete Requests

From time to time, you may receive requests from various characters that require you to bring them certain items or defeat specific enemies.

Completing these requests will grant you item rewards from the quest itself and raise your Bond Level with the character involved.

Perform a Dance of Bonds Near Character

Perform Drum Dance with Character

Using the Plum Branch and performing a Dance of Bonds near a character will also increase their Bond Level with you, similar to how you can use the Sacred Drum to accelerate the growth of crops in your farm.

You can do this once a day and while you still have Rune Points.

All across the map, you will see withered trees that can be revived with a Drum Dance using your Sacred Drum. Not only does this accumulate towards purifying the village, but this also increases the Bond Level meter with characters currently in your party.

Bond Bonuses

Raising a character's Bond Level with them will grant you Bond Bonuses which can improve their stats in combat. This makes them more viable to bring while exploring and fighting enemies, as their damage input may increase.

Get Various Rewards

Additionally, raising Bond Levels can net you a variety of rewards, ranging from weapons and armor associated with the character.

You may also receive items from them during your birthday, so try to raise your Bond Levels with as many characters as you can!

Marry Romanceable Characters

Marrying Characters

Raising your Bond Level with romanceable characters will also allow you to marry them down the line as you get to know them more. If you are eyeing to marry someone in the game immediately, make sure to prioritize raising their Bond Level.
