How to Start the Quick Meal Contest

Talk to Hisui to Start the Contest
Go to the God Shrine at Summer Village between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM and talk to Hisui. There will be a lot of people in front of the shrine, so you may want to pass through the back or go around the crowd.
If you do not talk to Hisui before 9 AM, the contest will be cancelled automatically.
Talk to Hisui to Again to Submit a Quick Meal
When you're ready to submit the Quick Meal dish you've prepared, talk to Hisui agin. Your inventory will open, showing all the Quick Meals in your inventory. Select the desired item and submit it for the contest. Take note that the item you select will be removed from your inventory.
Matsuri will then judge your Quick Meal dish, and you will be given a score depending on the dish you prepared. You have until 7:00 PM to submit your chosen item.
If you want to get first splace but aren't sure if the dish is good enough, make sure to save before submitting your entry to Hisui.

Submit a High Level Quick Meal
An easy way to win the Quick Meal contest is to submit a dish that has a high level, which can be achieved if you use ingredients that also have high levels. Dishes that have higher levels will have higher scores at the end of the contest compared to basic Level 1 meals.
For example, you can submit a Cucumber Roll that is made with high level Cucumbers and Steamed Rice, which you can make with a high level Rice.
Getting High Level Crops
Most dishes in the game are made from the crops that you harvest in your farm, so you can prepare the ingredients you need before the contest.
You can use the Sacred Sword to get high level seeds which will yield high level crops that you can use to make dishes.
How to Increase Crop and Seed Levels
Submit a Unique Recipe
You can also opt to submit a Quick Meal made from a character's unique recipe as this can score higher than regular Quick Meals.
You can prepare someone's signature dish once you reach Bond Level 6 with them, as this will unlock the ability to cook together in a building where you can make meals.
You also need to own the base recipe before you can make the signature dish.

Valuable Medal for Winning
If you manage to get first place in the Quick Meal Contest, you will be given the Valuable Medal. This is a commemorative item that can be sold for money.

The Quick Meal Contest will also generate profits. The higher your placement, the more money you will earn.

Increased Happiness
Completing a contest regardless of your placement will increase your village happiness.

Bread Dishes and Magatamas
You can also get Bread dishes for participating in the contest, and get various Magatamas if you are able to win the tournament.
