There are certain features in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma (RFGoA) that cannot be changed once it is locked in. Read on to learn more about all Points of No Return, branching story choices, and the content that can be changed in the game.

Points of No Return
Main Character's Gender
The only time you can select your gender is at the start of the game. Once you have chosen a protagonist, there will be no option to change them later on.
Can You Change the Main Character?
Same Sex Marriage is Available in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma
All Romance candidates are available for marriage regardless of gender. You do not need to start a new save if you want to marry a character of the same sex.
Can You Marry the Same Gender?
Main Character's Birthday
You will not be able to change your character's birthday after it has been selected at the start of the game.
Keep in mind that you will only receive birthday presents from characters who have Bond Level 3 or higher. If you put your birthday in the early Spring, you might not be able to receive gifts until the next year.
Birthday Guide: What Happens on Your Birthday
Skill Tree
Every upgrade on your skill tree will be a permanent feature. If you upgrade the wrong skill, or want to build towards a different skill line, you will be unable to retrieve the points you have already put down. You must gain new experience points to unlock more skills.
Birthday Gift
If you want to gift someone on their birthday, make sure to select 'celebrate birthday' so that you get bonus Bond Level experience from gifting.
You can only gift someone once a day, so if you choose the regular gifting option, you will be unable to gift them again and you will not receive the extra Bond Level increase.
Reversible Content
Main Character's Name
If you want to change the main character's name, you can talk to Hisui in the Summer Village to have it changed. You can only unlock this feature after completing the Summer Village story.
Difficulty
You can change your game difficulty anytime throughout the game. Simply open your camp menu and select Options. You can find the choice to change difficulty under the Settings tab.
Boss Rematch
You can always rechallenge old Boss Fights anytime. If you visit a boss area after you have defeated its boss, you will be able to interact with a purple orb which will give you the option to relive the battle.
Bosses can be used to farm experience points and potentially obtain rare material drops.

Sacrifice or Don't Sacrifice
There is a choice you have to make during The Black Dragon and Her Rider quest which may result in different endings.
If you pick 'I hereby offer myself to Nubatama, Ebony One...', you will be given an option to sacrifice one of three things. Once you have picked something, you will not be able to change your decision, and you will lose whatever you choose to sacrifice.
- Sacrificing Trust will deplete all your Bonds.
- Sacrificing Experience will lower your level.
- Sacrificing Wealth will reduce all Gold in your account to 0.
Refusing to Sacrifice
If you choose not to sacrifice anything, you will get to keep all your progress. However, this will lead to an ending where the other protagonist dies.
