Giant crops can grow from regular seeds in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma (RFGoA). Read on for tips on how to grow giant crops, how to know if you have a giant crop, and more information on what giant crops are!
List of Contents

Giant crops do not require any special seeds in order to grow. You only need to plant a regular seed of any level into a field, and they may randomly grow into a giant crop.

It is recommended to leave the crop to grow by itself when it only has one day remaining until it can be harvested. This means you should refrain from using the Sacred Drum to harvest it immediately, and let it grow overnight naturally.
Using the Sacred Drum to speed up the growing process before it reaches the final day of growth doesn't appear to negatively affect the chance of growing a giant crop.

Crops only grow in watered fields, so make sure that your fields are all watered before you go to bed. If you don't water a Field tile, the crop inside will have its Day(s) Until Harvest the same as the previous day.
Farming Guide: How to Manage Crops

It would appear that crops grow into giant crops randomly. There may be ways to influence the odds, but exact factors that affect giant crop growth are currently unknown.
Unlike in the mainline Rune Factory games, there does not appear to be a way to use fertilizers or Giantizers on fields. One thing that you can control in this game is the Farming bonus. It's possible that the higher your Farming village bonus, the more likely it is that your crops will turn into giant crops on the day of its harvest.
However, giant crops can grow in villages without a Farming bonus. Giant crops can also grow in villages that they don't necessarily grow the best in. They may not grow in villages they're not suited for because of their already limited yield, however. The best thing you can really do to get a giant crop is to plant a lot of seeds and wait.

If you're desperate to get a giant crop within a certain in-game timeframe, you can save before you go to sleep. Check your fields in the morning for a giant crop. If one doesn't appear, you can simply reload your game then go to sleep again.
Crops becoming giant only appear to be determined on the day they become harvestable. Reloading to a previous day can reroll your chances of getting a giant crop, but it can also make any grown giant crops become regular crops.

Since crops grow into giant crops randomly, villagers assigned to the Farming job may harvest them and send them to your Shipping Shed without your knowledge.
It's a good idea to check your Shipping Shed regularly before you end your day to make sure that they don't ship anything you may want to keep, such as new giant crops.

In this game, you can usually see four crops pop out when planting one seed in one Field tile. Giant crops merge these four crops into just one big crop, which makes them stand out visually.

Because of their larger size and rarity, you obtain less yield from harvesting giant crops. However, their sell value is significantly higher compared to regular crops, allowing you to still earn more from them despite getting a lower yield.
You can increase the yield of all of your crops by increasing your village bonus for Farming.

An obvious indicator that a crop has grown into a giant crop is its name. Giant crops are named differently from their regular counterparts, often being given a title befitting their large appearance.
You can watch out for these names on the side of your screen once you see your villagers harvesting crops.
