Available Only at Winter Village Level 2
Like all the Fishing Contests, the Saltwater Fish Contest is only available after increasing the Winter Village to Level 2. You need to progress the Winter Village Main Quests until you rescue the Winter God to unlock the higher Winter Village levels.

How to Start the Saltwater Fish Contest

Talk to Hisui to Start the Contest
On the day of the Saltwater Fish Contest, go to the God Shrine at the Summer Village between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM and talk to Hisui. There will be a lot of people in front of the shrine when the contest is about to start.
If you do not talk to Hisui before 9 AM, the contest will be cancelled automatically.
Catch the Biggest Saltwater Fish in the Contest
The Saltwater Fish Contest will begin after talking to Hisui and will last until 7 PM, when the winners will be announced.
A tracker will be displayed on the left side of the screen which will display your current rank and the largest Saltwater Fish that you've hauled, as well as the placement of other participants.
Do note that your current party will be disbanded for the duration of the contest, so it is advised to only fish in safe zones. Additionally, speaking to Hisui will not end the contest early.

Fish at the Beach of the Summer Village
Once the timer starts, run towards the fishing spots at either side of the God Shrine and start fishing. There are three fishing spots in the immediate area, and you can run to the dock on the west side of the Summer Village for two more fishing spots then to the east side for the last fishing spot.
Catch a Huge Saltwater Fish
You'll have about 17 real world minutes to fish until it is 7 PM in the game. You'll be able to easily reach and secure first place as soon as you catch a Saltwater Fish that is at least 100 cm. You can keep on fishing even after gaining a huge lead to secure the top spot.

Saltwater Fish Contest Rewards
Valuable Medal for Winning
If you manage to get first place in the Saltwater Fish Contest, you will be given a Valuable Medal that can be sold for money.
Increased Happiness and Gold
Completing the Saltwater Fish Contest will increase your Village Happiness, as well as Gold based on your placement in the contest.
Seafood Dishes
You can also get seafood dishes for participating in the Saltwater Fish Contest. You can use these to restore health or Rune Points.
