Armor can be worn to reduce damage taken by enemies in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma (RFGoA). Read on to learn more about the best armor to have in the early, middle, and end game!
Foot Soldier Pauldron

During the start of the game, you can immediately obtain good starting armor by interacting with Wayside Shrines and Frog Statues in the Spring Region.
Although these armor don't have a high stat bonus, they can be upgraded in the Blacksmith using very easy to procure materials like Iron, Cheap Cloth, and Fur (S), which can be obtained from the monster drops within the region.
This starting set will be able to get you all the way to Summer Village.
Takenaga Ribbon

The Takenaga Ribbon can be easily acquired through a Wayside Shrine in the Summer Region and provides improved protection against many early game enemies. It is also cheap to craft compared to other armor, so this is something you can easily equip to your party.

Shinobi Pauldron

The Shinobi Pauldron is easy to craft with only two materials: Silver and Strong Cloth. If you upgrade it, it can easily match the stats of some armor you will find in the Astral Shrines which may require more quality materials to craft.

The Ring of Repose's recipe can be found in the Wayside Shrine in the Spring region. This ring will recover HP depending on the amount of damage dealt to enemies, which is important during the early game when your max HP is still low.
| Ninja Mask |
Armor Stats: DEF +108 M.DEF +108 |
The Ninja Mask has good status bonuses without needing any upgrades, and only needs Iron, Silver, and Gold to make, which can be mined from ore deposits within the 4 Main Village Regions. This can be found through interacting with a Wayside Shrine in the Twilight Gaol.

Armor Stats: DEF +286 M.DEF +286 |
The Magic Shield provides strong protection at this stage in the grave. It takes only Gold and Quality Pauldron to craft, and will protect you until you reach the Underworld.

Armor Stats: Steadfast Damage Boost +2% |
The Soldier's Proof can be obtained from a frog statue in the Isolated Islet, which you can reach by using the Sacred Parasol on an elevated spot. This accessory will keep you from flinching from enemy attacks. This will help you in a lot of boss battles, even ones that are later in the game.
How to Reach the Isolated Islet

When you reach the Rakshaka's Gorge, you will find the War Deity's Pauldron in a Wayside Shrine near the entrance. The War Deity's Pauldron has a high defence bonuses even without any upgrades. It will help you through the Underground Rear Approach, since there are no enemies that have a proficiency against Fire.

The Winter Hairpin is quick to craft, only needing a Water Crystal and Exquisite Thread to forge. It provides a good defense and magic protection, and can be easily produced for the rest of your party.
| Ring of Tranquility |
Armor Stats: Elemental Reducer |
The Ring of Tranquility will protect you from damage from elemental attacks. This will help you with facing off against late game bosses, as well as the final main story dungeon, which will have you facing off against swarms of enemies with different elemental powers.
