The most basic way to earn Gold is by placing harvested crops in the Shipping Bin. You can also sell other items that you find around the game, but crops are a steady source of income and are easily sold in bulks.
Selling price may vary per crop, so once you have money, try planting more expensive seeds.
You will receive profit from the shipping bin at the end of the day after you go to sleep.
How to Increase Crop and Seed Levels
Placing down more fields will allow you to harvest a large amount of crop at a given time. You will need Red Soil and Black Soil to create more fields, which can be obtained by gathering, defeating early game bosses, or crafting with Woolby.

Golden seeds produce golden crops, which have higher sell values than their regular counterparts. You can use the Sacred Sword to get multiple golden seeds on harvestable crops, which also have the chance to drop higher seed levels.

You can also sell items directly to a shopkeeper if you do not want to wait until the end of the day to receive gold.

At Bond Level 3 or higher, characters will gift you expensive items on your birthday such as Rubies which can be sold at a high price, so try to raise your bonds before your birthday!

If you complete Tsubame's requests, you will earn a Exotic Medal. Each Exotic Medal can be sold for 10,000 gold, so try to complete them when they come up.

The Skill Merchant skill, which is found in the Social Activilies skill tree under Practical Abilities, allows you to sell items for a higher price.
There are three Skilled Merchant nodes under this skill tree, so try to get these to maximize your profits when selling items.
Best Practical Abilities to Get

Slacker and Big Eater villagers can be evicted to improve the production of the village and reduce village costs.
Big Eater villagers cost more to feed everyday, and Slacker villagers produce low output, so you may benefit more from removing them and having them replaced with better quality villagers.

As you develop your farm across all villages, you will get access to seeds that can produce crops with a higher level. Higher-level crops can be sold for more than low level ones, and it doesn't take much to fill a field with these as long as you have enough seeds to use.
These will be your main source of income once you sell these in bulk, so try to plant as many of these as possible.

You may obtain elemental crystals while mining for ores around the map. These can sell for a high price, and it can be easy to obtain them as long as you keep mining from time to time.

Fishing is also a reliable way to get gold as you can sell all of the fishes that you catch. You don't need to hoard as much fish to use for cooking as you'll have plenty of crops that you can use for other dishes.
Fishing is unlocked once you reach the Searching for the Winter God quest in the Winter Village.

Money can be used to buy Food and other Items which can be used for farming or recipes. Different shops will have different items, so construct more shop buildings to explore what goods you can purchase.

After unlocking the Blacksmith, you will be able to forge new equipment and upgrade your current ones to a higher level. It will cost a lot of money and materials to accomplish these tasks, so you might need to save up in advance.

Money can be spent at the Carpenter to purchase buildings and decorations to fill your designated land. Placing down buildings and decor can increase your Village Bonuses, which will in turn boost your stats.

Villagers will have a daily cost, which automatically deducts from your shipping bin profits or your personal funds if there is not enough money in the shipping bin.
Village happiness can decrease if your villagers are not being paid, and they might leave the village, so manage them wisely!

Every villager has a Quality which will affect their workflow. It is recommended to assign jobs to villagers with the Light Eater quality, since they are less expensive to feed.
