Guardians of Azuma is not Rune Factory 6, and is more closer to games such as Rune Factory Frontier, and Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny.

These spinoff titles usually introduce new game mechanics that if well received, will become part of the next main game.

Game Takes Place in the Same Timeline as Rune Factory 5

While the game is a spin-off title to the Rune Factory series, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma takes place on the same timeline as Rune Factory 5. Hina, one of the game's marriage candidates, was a previous character from Rune Factory 5.
