The Skies of Azuma Walkthrough
To befriend the Nine-Tails, perform a Dance of Bonds during the fight, until you see the befriend icon show up underneath its HP bar, and proceed to defeat it. Once it gets back up, interact with it and gift it a Nine-Tails Bell. Keep in mind that you only have 3 chances before the dance wears off and the Boss disappears.
Nine-Tails also takes up 4 Barn Spaces, so make sure that you have enough space for it in any of the dev zones before attempting to befriend it.
Boss Taming Guide and Best Items to Give
| Main Weapon | Secondary Weapon |
|---|---|
Fireman's Standard
|
Dragonfish Blades
|
The Fireman's Standard is a long sword with high attack power and water attack, which works effectively against Nine-Tails, since it has a weakness to both Long Swords and Water Attacks.
Bringing the Dragonfish Blades as a secondary weapon allows you to deal damage to Nine-Tails faster, since the Dual Blades has a high attack speed, and its Water Attack allows you to damage it consistently.

|---|---|---|
| Ritual Mask |
Ruby Pauldron
|
Soldier's Proof
|
The Ritual Mask, Ruby Pauldron, and Soldier's Proof are all equipment that can be crafted from recipes found before fighting Nine-Tails.
Equipping all three increases your defensive and offensive stats, allowing you to tank more hits and deal more damage to Nine-Tails during the battle.

Bringing a team consisting of Iroha, Hisui, and Ulalaka provides a defensive team comp, allowing you to not worry about receiving damage while Nine-Tails is not stunned.
With a high enough bond, Fubuki will perform various Water Dances, and Matsuri and Murasame can exploit Nine-Tails' water weakness.
How to Form a Party and Increase Party Size
| Nine-Tails Strategy |
|---|
Upgrading your Long Sword and Sacred Parasol Skills is a great way to make the boss battle easier.
For the Long Sword, try to prioritize Charge Attack, and Ultimate Attack nodes, while aiming for Thunderclap and Blessings of Water nodes for the Sacred Parasol.
If you have the means to consistently restore RP, you can repeatedly use the Parasol Dance Attacks to quickly fill up the Boss' stagger meter.
Nine-Tails has very powerful attacks, and coming underleveled and unprepared can make the fight significantly harder.
Stock up on healing and food items by purchasing or cooking before challenging the boss!
During the Nine-Tails boss fight, you can use Thunderbolt once it's stunned to deal more damage.
Ideally, your goal is to build 2 charge bars using attacks before the boss is stunned. Once it's stunned, use up all your charge bars by performing Dances, to deal massive amounts of damage quickly.
Performing a Perfect Dodge gives you a brief window of opportunity where the monster is slowed, allowing you to freely perform your combos.
During the Nine-Tails boss fight, perfect dodges are more important compared to previous boss fights, since its attacks deal significantly more damage, and has shorter wind-up times.
Challenging and defeating Nine-Tails again drops Aquamarine and Nine-Tails Bell. Fighting Nine-Tails in different locations later on in the game yields additional rewards, such as Platinum, and Nine-Tails Bell.
During the rematch, you can also use this opportunity to befriend Nine-Tails.
