Tool Description
Broom Allows you to sweep leaves on the ground to obtain Weeds and Withered Grass.
Hatchet Allows you to chop trees for lumber, saplings, and materials.
Hammer Allows you to mine ore deposits for material stone and ore.
Fishing Pole Allows you to catch fish at fishing spots.

How to Use Tools

Used to Get Materials and Resources

Chopping Trees

You can use tools to obtain materials and resources. The materials you obtain can be used to craft weapons and armor with lumber and ore, or cook dishes with fishes.

Upgrade Tools to Get More Resources

Hammer Upgrade

Tools can be upgraded once you get the recipe for the next item. This will help you gather more materials when gathering.

Raise Village Level for Hatchet and Hammer

Getting Tool Recipes

You can upgrade your hatchet and hammer once you get the corresponding recipe to craft a new one. You need to raise your Village Level to get the recipes for these upgrades; they will not be unlocked from Wayside Shrines or Frog Statues.

Once you get the recipe, head to a Blacksmith and choose 'Forge', then 'Forge Tools'. You will see a list of all tools that you can currently upgrade, provided that you have the materials needed.

Fill Up PescaPedia for Fishing Poles

Watarase and PescaPedia

Meanwhile, you can get upgrade recipes for your fishing pole as you fill up your PescaPedia and show Watarase your progress. Try catching more fishes to log them, talk to Watarase in the Winter Village to show him your fishing records, and head to a Blacksmith to upgrade your fishing pole.

Complete Ema Plaque Requests

Ema Plaques

You can get Ema Plaque requests once you obtain a new recipe for a tool. This request will ask you to upgrade your tool, and you will get a reward for doing so.
