Thirsty Desert Platinum Medal Walkthrough (Collect Treasure!)

A guide to obtaining the platinum medal for the Collect Treasure! Mission: Thirsty Desert in Pikmin 3 Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch. This guide will walk you through how to clear the mission and earn a platinum medal!

Thirsty Desert Tips and Strategy

Effecient Division of Labor is Essential

In the Thirsty Desert mission, similar to other missions, an efficient division of labor is essential. This mission has a slightly longer time limit of 10 minutes, giving players a chance to catch their breath.

Manage Your Winged Pikmin Well

Since many fruits are retrieved after going through water, we will naturally want to use Winged Pikmin. The area will be used from the beginning half up until the end so make sure to ascertain this area and begin working without any delays.

Thirsty Desert Platinum Medal Walkthrough

1：Split into 2 Teams and Begin Working

Begin by splitting into two groups with one consisting of Alph and the other of Charlie and Brittany. By beginning work early, efficient work is possible.

Alph

Use the Go Here function to move to the area with Red Pikmin in the northwest. After arriving, have the Red Pikmin immediately transport the pieces and move to the east where the Winged Pikmin.

Charlie & Brittany

Including the Red Pikmin on the step, retrieve all of the nearby Red Pikmin. After throwing one leader on the step and pulling it out, it is also good to retrieve the Cupid's Grenade as well. Send some Pikmin to destroy the dirt wall and use the remaining numbers to retrieve the mountain of Nuggets.

After finishing this, have both Charlie and Brittany return to Alph's location and throw Brittany to Alph. Have Charlie return to the starting area.

2：Next Split into 3 Groups and Work

Alph

After reuniting with Charlie, throw him onto the step and pull up the Winged Pikmin. During this, have Alph throw all his Winged Pikmin at the Nuggets and use the Go Here function to return to where the Red Pikmin transported the pieces.

After retrieving the Red Pikmin, cross the western bridge and retrieve the Winged Pikmin.

Charlie

Gather the Pikmin near the starting area and retrieve the fruit on the other side of the dirt wall. After that, defeat the Joustmite located near the center of the map and retrieve all the nearby Cupid's Grenade and Sunseed Berry.

Take the remaining Pikmin and head towards Alph's location. Entrust the Pikmin to Alph and head back towards the starting area.

Brittany

Add all the Winged Pikmin to retrieving the Nuggets, and remain there until finished. When retrieval is finished, gather the Winged Pikmin and retrieve all the fruit to the east. After throwing all the Winged Pikmin return to the starting area.

3：Once Again Split into 2 Teams and Operate

Alph

Retrieve the nearby fruits with Red Pikmin and leave the Nuggets to all of your Winged Pikmin. After waiting for everything to be retrieved, head south and retrieve the fruit there while taking down a Dwarf Bulborb. During this time, have Red Pikmin destroy the dirt wall.

Charlie & Brittany

Reunite at the starting area and retrieve all the Pikmin. Raise the southwest fence with Winged Pikmin and use all the remaining numbers to throw onto the west step. Defeat the Dwarf Bulborb to the south, and after retrieving the fruit, throw Pikmin at the rubble pieces and have them complete the bridge.

It is ideal to have any excess Pikmin climb the steps as well to retrieve the fruit with the Red Pikmin.

4：Retrieve the Remaining Fruits

Charlie

Reunite with the Pikmin who have finished their job and call back the Pikmin who have finished transporting the bridge. Defeat the Pyroclasmic Slooch in the south with Red Pikmin and retrieve the Insect Condo, Face Wrinkler, and other fruits. Throw all the Winged Pikmin at the nearby Nuggets.

Charlie & Brittany

After transporting the Nuggets, call back the Winged Pikmin and throw Brittany and around 3 Pikmin to the eastern ledge. Have the Winged Pikmin retrieve the 2 types of fruit and leave the fruit retrieval to Brittany. After finishing, your work will be complete!
