With a limited supply of Pikmin in these missions, its vital that you make use of all Pikmin you can find. Pluck all Pikmin you discover buried in the ground, and make sure to go back for Pikmin who are idle after moving fruit or nuggets.
Especially in the first 30 to 60 seconds, it's a good idea to try and increase the amount of each Pikmin you haveーespecially if they're good for a particular job in that stage. If you are low on Pikmin, you can always defeat the enemies near the start (past the bridge), and cary their remains back for more Pikmin!
Pikmin Types | How to Get More Pikmin
Some fruits and nuggets are hidden in places that you won't see at first glance, such as hidden under a leaf, or buried in the dirt. Be sure and explore as much of the map as possible, being extra cautious to look in high places, and attempt to lock on to whatever you can.
Moving the pointer around will help you discover hidden treasures you may have missed otherwise.
One of the Skutterchucks just past the bridge will drop a fruit, so be sure and throw a Rock Pikmin at it take it out!
In Side Stories, you'll control both Olimar and Louie. With the short amount of time you're allotted, splitting up will help you explore more efficiently. With two paths in the Flower Garden, it is a good idea to send Olimar on one side, and Louie to the other.
While one is waiting for their Pikmin to finish building a bridge or taking down a wall, switch back over to the other!
In the Side Stories, your one an only goal is to recover all of the fruit and nuggets. While you'll need to have enough Pikmin to complete the mission quickly, you shouldn't waste too much time on increasing your Pikmin. Also, don't worry too much about losing Pikminーit does not have any negative effect on your score.
