What Happens When You Get A Game Over?

How to Get a Game Over

Running Out of Juice

The only way to get a game over in Pikmin 3 Deluxe is when you lose all of your juice stores entirely and not getting fruit the day after.

When you have no juice and the only day to collect fruits ends, a cutscene triggers, Alph will have dialouge where he says Ah... if only I could turn back time. This is a hint to the player that they have the ability to go back to an earlier day and redo their actions.

All Pikmin Dead

In the event of losing all of your Pikmin of a single type, either to hostile creatures, the environment of PNF-404, or your own carelesness, the Pikmin Onion will spit out a single Pikmin in an act of self preservation, thus ensuring that you will never run out of Pikmin. Therefore, running out of Pikmin will not give you a game over.

All Leaders Down

Your characters will be downed once they have taken enough damage from hostile creatures or the environment of PNF-404. When this happens they get beamed up an emergency teleporter and the day automatically ends, saving your progress, or lack thereof.

You will not get a game over, but instead, you will simply end the day immediately, and move to the next day. A special journal entry is also made.

What Happens to Your Pikmin?

Akin to leaving pikmin outside the proximity of the onion at sundown, Pikmin not within your squad when your last leader is downed are lost forever. Therefore, if your Pikmin were in your squad when your last leader ran out of HP, the Pikmin will survive!
