Death Stranding 2's movement system feels weighty. However, it starts feeling sluggish when playing below 60 FPS. To make sure you can respond to hazards and enemies on-screen in a timely manner, set DS2's Graphics Mode to prioritize performance instead of quality.
A lot of Death Stranding 2's core gameplay mechanics are locked behind main story progress. This includes vehicles, skeletons, and backpack attachments that greatly help in regular deliveries.
If possible, try to complete only main orders in Mexico so that you can get to Australia faster. The new unlocks you get down south will help you get S Rank deliveries much easier; and besides, you'll still be able to return to Mexico after you get your first few upgrades anyway.
List of Orders (Story Walkthrough)
Once you do get to Australia, start taking things slow. A lot of the good unlocks are obtained by raising your connection level with the different facilities, so you'll want to get at least the 4★ unlocks from the starting facilities to make future main orders a breeze to complete.
During the early game, Sam will struggle when delivering heavy loads. This adds to the difficulty of S-ranking orders since cargo damage is more severe on Brutal.
To rectify this problem, progress the main story until you reach Order No. 010. Help free the Western Environmental Observatory from bandits and you'll unlock your very first Skeleton.
When equipped, Skeletons greatly increase Sam's physical capabilities, allowing you to sprint faster, carry heavier loads, and maintain balance regardless of terrain.
When you first arrive in Australia, you'll notice that their BTs are a bit trickier to handle since the starting area Watchers are also the Catchers that trigger voidouts. Once you unlock the Shotgun (MP) or the Grenade Pistol, you can start clearing these BTs out to make orders located in these areas much easier handle.
A lot of the main story fights can blindside you if you aren't always prepared (like the boss fight in Order No. 012), especially since enemies deal more damage on Brutal. At minimum, make sure you always have 3 Blood Bags in your suit's utility pouch for when you're forced into a fight you weren't ready for.
Fortunately, Brutal difficulty is entirely optional. Players can finish Death Stranding 2 on Casual difficulty and still 100% the game. Only Story mode locks you out of achievements as the Seasoned Porter trophy can only be earned on Casual, Normal, or Brutal.
