Death Stranding 2 - Zipline Range and Best Placements

Ziplines are excellent traversal tools with a set range in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach (DS2). See the zipline's range and where the best placements are, as well as how to unlock ziplines and their upgrades here!

Zipline Range

Zipline Upgrade Max Range
Level 1 300 Meters
Level 2 350 Meters

300 Meters for Level 1 Zipline

Placing a new zipline to connect with a Level 1 zipline gives you a maximum range of 300 meters. This allows for efficient travel and helps you skip challenging terrain with ease. However, you'll still need to place the ziplines yourself or rely on ones placed by other players that are not obstructed by the environment.

350 Meters for Level 2 Zipline

Level 2 ziplines offer an extended range of 350 meters, which is fantastic when building a large zipline connection. This increased range reduces the need to construct additional ziplines, making long-distance travel even more efficient.

Upgrading the Zipline for Extra Range Is Always Worth It

The added range upgrade is almost always worth it, as the increased range adds up significantly over long stretches of ziplines. Upgrading a zipline to Level 2 costs 480 Special Alloys and 240 Chemicals.

Level 3 Zipline Does Not Extend Range

The Level 3 upgrade of the zipline does not extend the range anymore but simply increases the structure's durability. This usually isn't worth the large amount of materials needed for the upgrade, especially early on.

Zipline Best Placements

Highly Elevated and Visible From Afar

It’s best to place your main connecting ziplines on elevated spots like hilltops or mountain peaks, where they’re not obstructed. This makes them easily visible and accessible from a distance, allowing you and other players to link multiple ziplines to them efficiently.

Over Hostile BT Zones

Zipline Over BT

Hostile BT zones are perfect to have ziplines over, letting you completely avoid the need to fight or sneak through their territory. Many routes and facilities require crossing BT-infested areas, so setting up ziplines to breeze past them saves a lot of time and risk.

Facilities the DHV Magellan Can't Fast Travel To

The DHV Magellan can travel to most major facilities, but some locations still require a bit of trekking from the nearest docking point. Setting up ziplines lets you reach these spots more efficiently, making it much easier to complete Standard Orders or deliver Lost Cargo.

Complete Order No. 021

The PCC Lv2 and the Zipline Structure Data are the rewards for completing Order No. 021 from the Dowser. This main order involves rescuing Dowser's friend from Armed Survivalists.

Order No. 021 Walkthrough

Create Ziplines With PCC Lv2

Once you’re carrying a PCC Lv2, which can be crafted using 30 Chiral Crystals, 60 Resins, and 80 Metals, you can start placing ziplines.

Hold right on the D-Pad to open the Weapons/Tools menu, then select the PCC Lv2. From there, choose the Zipline option at the bottom of the structure wheel.

Each zipline costs 500 QP Bandwidth to place and can be built anywhere that isn’t obstructed by other structures.
