Marking Enemies in Death Stranding 2 On the Beach (DS2) can be done in compass mode, using the scanner, and watch towers. Learn how to mark enemies and what can prevent you from doing so.

Hold L1 and Move Right Stick to Enemy Direction

Mark Enemies

To mark enemies, hold L1 to enter Compass Mode and use the right stick to center your reticle on them.

You can mark enemies even at a distance, allowing you to scout their positions while planning covert or combat strategies.

Structures or objects obstructing your view will prevent you from marking enemies.

Scanner Can Detect and Mark Enemies

Motion Scanner

By default, the Scanner can only detect enemies carrying cargo, allowing you to identify their position and mark them, but it cannot detect those without.

After completing Order No. 009, your Odradek receives an upgrade, giving it a motion sensor feature. This allows it to detect enemy movement even if they aren't carrying cargo or obstructed from view.

Use The Watch Tower

Watch Tower Marking Enemies

To mark enemies with a watchtower, press Square to use it and move the right stick to scan the area. You don't need to know their exact positions or center on them with the reticle; simply passing over the reticle near their location will automatically mark them.

Watchtowers are more advantageous because they can mark enemies even if your view of them is obstructed.
