How to Check on Lou

After reaching Episode 3, Sam will be able to check on Lou via his private room aboard the DHV Magellan in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach (DS2). Read on to learn how to check on Lou during your playthrough.

Unlock the DHV Magellan's Private Room

DHV Magellan Private Room

In order to unlock this new interaction with Lou, you'll first need to progress the main story until you reach Order No. 008. Once Fragile takes you aboard the DHV Magellan, you'll gain access to your private room before having to depart for the Mexico plate gate.

Order No. 008 Walkthrough

Pan Your Camera to Lou's Pod to Check on Them

Check on Lou

Once you have access to your Private Room aboard the ship, simply pan your camera to the right side of the bed. Here, you should see your backpack, suit, and Lou's pod hanging on the wall. Press Circle to check on Lou.

You can use the PS5 controller's motion controls to rock Lou back and forth in order to soothe them. However, this is the only interaction you can perform before having to hang the pod back on the wall.

After this brief introduction to your room, you'll be able to use it as a base of operations once you start delivery missions in Australia.

Use Compass Mode then Press D-Pad Down

If you're on the open field and Lou starts crying, you can use the compass mode by holding the L1 Button. This will bring up the compass menu, from here, hold the d-pad down button to check up on Lou.

How to Soothe Lou

Rock the Dual-Sense Controller to Soothe Lou

If you're checking on Lou, you can rock the Dual-Sense controller to try and calm Lou down if she's crying. Be sure to only rock the controller gently or Lou's crying won't stop.
