To start sneaking, press the R1 button to make Sam crouch. In this position, you stay lower to the ground, making it easier to stay out of sight. While movement becomes slower, you also make less noise, reducing the chance of being detected.
Hold R1 to Hold Breath and Move Silently

You can hold R1 to hold your breath whether you're standing or crouching, and doing so while standing will automatically make Sam crouch. This completely silences your movements, making it easier to remain undetected. However, holding your breath quickly drains your Stamina bar, so use it wisely.
Utilize Tall Grass to Sneak
Tall grass is a great way to break line of sight while still allowing you to observe your surroundings.
You Can Still Be Spotted if Your Cargo Stack Is Too High
If your cargo is sticking out of the grass, enemies may still spot you. Consider rearranging your load to stay hidden, or offload/recycle any extra equipment you don't need to reduce your visibility.

Use Compass Mode to Observe Surroundings and Track Enemies

Before approaching a hostile area, use Compass Mode to scout from a distance and mark enemies. This helps you plan your approach more effectively.
Break Line of Sight
With enemies marked, pay attention to where they’re looking and when you might enter their line of sight. With careful observation, you'll find openings in their patrols, allowing you to slip through undetected and move stealthily using the cover of surroundings and grass.
Hold Breath and Move Slowly to Reduce Sound
When near BTs, scan your surroundings and move carefully to avoid detection. BTs are highly sensitive to sound, so using the Hold Breath function is especially useful in these situations.
If your scanner starts clapping rapidly with blue panels or spinning quickly in yellow mode, it's best to hold your breath and stay still until the scanner calms down and becomes more stable.
Sometimes, you'll need to circle around groups of BTs to avoid passing through the center of a cluster. Look for areas with fewer BTs and take a safer route through those paths.
Use Stealth Weapons for Takedowns

Using a silenced weapon or a Strand, you can quietly incapacitate enemies without killing them. This allows you to move on undetected, leave them behind, and even take their cargo if needed.
Easier to Sneak at Night
At night when it's dark, you have better cover, making it easier to sneak around undetected. You can approach hostile camps at night to increase your chance of slipping by unnoticed.

While the Odradek flashlight improves your own visibility at night, be sure to turn it off when near enemies to avoid being easily spotted. The light makes you significantly more visible to hostiles.
