Norman Reedus portrays Sam Porter Bridges in the Death Stranding series, bringing the character to life through his motion capture and acting performance. He reprises his role as Sam in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
Reedus is widely recognized for his iconic portrayal of Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead television series. This role became a fan favorite and a significant figure in pop culture, even leading to a dedicated spinoff show, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, where he continues his portrayal of the iconic character.
Before his time as Daryl and Sam, Reedus was also known for his role as Murphy MacManus in the 1999 film The Boondock Saints.

Death Stranding's Main Protagonist
Sam Porter Bridges is the main protagonist of the Death Stranding series, coming back as the main character in Death Stranding 2. Sam is not only a skilled porter with immense physical capabilities but also possesses supernatural abilities in him being a Repatriate, which gives him the ability to return to life after dying.
He also inherently has a condition called DOOMS, allowing him to better sense Beached Things (BTs) and even see them. These BTs are dangerous entities that consume humans.
With these inherent traits, the critical task of delivering supplies and forging connections across post-apocalyptic America is placed upon him, and he ultimately succeeds. Despite his traumatic past and flaws, he helps reconnect what's left of humanity and finds his own human connection.
Sam Starts a New Journey in the Sequel
In Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Sam resumes his journey sometime after the first game. After the events of Death Stranding, he continues as a porter, connecting people across Australia.
