How to Cross Rivers

Wade Through Water

Wade Through Water

Wade through the water by holding L2 and R2 to maintain balance. You must have plenty of stamina first in order to wade through.

Use the Scanner to Determine Traversable Areas of the River

Scanning Body of Water

Symbol How Crossable is the Water?
Blue Circle Safe to cross. You can cross with ease.
Yellow Square Deep water is afoot. Crossable river but must have plenty of stamina and hold L2 and R2 to maintain balance while moving.
Red Square Not crossable. Find another path to move to your destination.

Determine if the water is crossable first by pressing R1 to use the scanner. Colored symbols will appear which will tell you if the river is safe to cross or not.

Use Ladder

You can use Ladders horizontally to create a traversable path. Just try to find rocks you can hedge it to but if none are present then ladders are subpar choices.

Use Bridges to Cross the Water

Use Bridges

You can build bridges on top of rivers in order to cross them. Bridges are structures that can be used to traverse rivers or ravines. It will require additional materials in order to be built.

Use the Tri-Cruiser

Use Tri-Cruiser

The Tri-Cruiser is a specialized three wheel vehicle that you can ride to cross the world of Death Stranding, including some bodies of water like the river.
