This is a guide for Order No. 039 - Destroy the Giant Ghost Mech in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach (DS2). Learn how to beat the Giant Octopus Mech for the second time, as well as best combat tips and weaknesses for the boss.

How to Beat the Giant Octopus Mech
Your only objective for this order is to defeat the Giant Octopus Mech, which is similar, but larger, from the one you fought during Order No. 012. Defeat the boss to complete the order!

Stock Up on Blood Bags, Weapons, and Grenades
At the start of the order, you're given a chance to prepare for the fight against the Giant Octopus Mech. Make sure to fabricate as many Blood Bags as you can carry, as well as weapons with MP Bullets and MP Grenades.
You can also fabricate and equip a Battle Skeleton to help you move faster during the boss fight.
Shoot the Boss' Head and Orange Rings
Similar to the first time you fought this type of boss, the Giant Octopus Mech's weak points are still its head and the orange rings on its tentacles. The DHV Magellan will also help with shooting this time, though it won't do that much damage.
Use Double Jump to Dodge Attacks and Projectiles
The boss performs wide-reaching attacks with its tentacles and shoots projectiles. Use your double jump to dodge, or maneuver sideways to avoid vertical strikes.
Take Advantage of the Social Strand System
If you are playing with an internet connection, you may find shared items in the battlefield from other porters, thanks to the Social Strand System. Make the most of these by looting items such as Blood Bags and weapons to help you in your fight against the boss.
