Timefall is a phenomenon in the game that manifests as rain. Organic matter hit by the Timefall rapidly ages, while inorganic matter like containers rapidly deteriorate.
While exploring, getting caught in a Timefall storm will damage cargo containers you're carrying. If you fall over and drop damaged cargo containers, their contents damage will increase, jeopardizing your S Rank rating for that delivery.
In order to reverse container damage, you'll need to use a Container Repair Spray on your carried cargo once the Timefall storm passes. This particular tool is unlocked for fabrication during Order No. 002.
Alternatively, you can seek shelter underneath Timefall Shelters - a PCC construction option introduced during Order No. 004. In addition to providing shelter from the rain, these nifty structures also function to drive away any BTs pursuing you (provided they're stocked up on repellant).

Strong Winds is an environmental hazard that manifests as a sandstorm, in-game. Like most hazards, the arrival of Strong Winds can be spotted from a distance.
If you get caught inside a storm of Strong Winds, visibility will be very poor and Sam will have a high chance of getting blown over if you don't manage to balance your cargo well. Carrying heavy loads during Strong Winds is a no-go and you're better off resting to avoid damaging your cargo.
To rest during a Strong Winds event, look for a structure that blocks the wind (can be a building, rock formation, or wall). Once situated, hold Square to get Sam to rest and regain his Stamina.
Not everything is against you during a Strong Winds event. If your destination is in the direction where the winds are blowing, you can use it to speed up your travel time by walking with a tailwind behind you.
However, do note that walking against the wind will drain your stamina faster, similar to crossing rivers that have a strong current.

Earthquakes are another environmental hazard that you'll need to watch out for. When they occur, the ground shakes, making it more likely for you to stumble and fall. Moving during an earthquake will endanger any cargo you may be carrying.
If an earthquake is strong enough, Sam will be forced to crouch down and you will not be able to move until the tremors pass. Additionally, if you are climbing a mountain slope, earthquakes can cause landslides that damage you and your cargo on hit.

If rainfall is heavy or when caught in the middle of a storm, nearby bodies of water like rivers can trigger the Rising Waters hazard. When this happens, the river will flood and rise, making them even more difficult to cross.
Crossing during a rising waters event can cause Sam to topple over and lose his cargo. If you really need to cross the river, look for a shallower crossing or wait for the weather phenomena to subside and the water to recede.
Tar Pits and Tar Seas are pools of tar on the ground that can be found throughout the world. They swallow anything that gets in contact with their surface. Cargo, vehicles, or any objects that sink into tar will be lost.
If Sam is caught in a Tar Pit or Tar Sea and sinks too deep, he will die and cause a Voidout. Make sure to keep your wits about you when crossing these hazards during your playthrough.
