How to Beat Whiteclad Noble

Whiteclad Noble Strategy

Punish the Wave Attack Combo

The Whiteclad Noble's phase one wave attack combo is easy to counter. By running sideways during his wave and dash attacks, you can avoid all hits. While running sideways, charge a Heavy Attack to punish his dash. Be quick with your timing — release the Heavy Attack promptly, or he may dash out of range.

Note that he will only do the dash attack when your far from him. Getting too close makes him do the large area-of-effect attack.

Punish the Spear Slash After the Spin Jump

The Whiteclad Noble has another easily punishable move in phase one: the slash following his spear spin. After spinning on his spear, he always performs a jumping slash. You can dodge and punish this attack accordingly by dodging forward and countering with Light Attacks, or run backwards and counter with a charged Heavy Attack.

Save Your Transformation for Phase Two

Phase two of the fight is more challenging, so it's best to save your Transformation spell for this stage. Spend Sparks on the Evergreen ability for your Transformation skill to extend its duration or increase the number of hits you can take before it wears off.

All Transformations

Do the Spirit Skill Combo Below 50% Health

With one opportunity to use the Spirit Skill in this fight, combine it with the Immobilize Spell and the Grey Wolf Mask to perform a combo that deals around 30% of a boss's health. We recommend doing this combo to finish off the the boss in its second phase.

Combo Requirements

For this strategy, unlock all abilities in the Immobilize Spell up to Evanescence and Easy Prey. Equip the Grey Wolf Mask to boost damage against enemies below 50% health, and equip the Wandering Wight Spirit for its powerful Spirit Skill and passive defense bonus.

Combo Execution

Wandering Wight Damage Nuke Combo
Wait for Boss to attack while 50% or less Health → Counter with Immobilize → 3 Light Attacks → Wandering Wight Spirit Skill

Once Whiteclad Noble is below 50% health, wait for the boss to start a long combo, then cast Immobilize to trigger Evanescence damage-boost. Follow up with three Light Attacks, then activate the Wandering Wight's Spirit Skill to make the fight, hopefully, easier.

Whiteclad Noble Character Lore

A Whiteclad Snake Spirit

The Whiteclad Noble is a character in Journey to the West. Also known as the White Robed Scholar, he is a White Snake Spirit and a friend to both Lingxuzi and Black Bear Guai.

Unlike his counterpart in literature, the Whiteclad Noble in the game is a competent fighter and even wields some magic. This is in contrast to his novel version who is easily killed by Sun Wukong with one strike.
