Found in the Crouching Tiger Temple
You encounter Tiger Vanguard in the Crouching Tiger Temple after climbing the stairs next to the Temple Entrance Keeper's Shrine in Chapter 2. To reach this area, pass through the cave near the Valley of Despair Keeper's Shrine, which becomes accessible after defeating the Second Prince of Flowing Sands.

Punish the Jump Attacks
Tiger Vanguard begins the fight with a jumping attack, which, like his other jump attacks, including ones in his combos, has no follow-up. You can punish these with a couple of light attacks to build Focus.
Counter the Rock Solid Spell
During the fight, Tiger Vanguard will use the Rock Solid spell, hardening his body and becoming invulnerable. Instead of attacking, charge a Heavy Attack and release it once the spell ends.
If you mistakenly attack while he's in this state, your staff will bounce off, and he will counter with a delayed punch. You can still, however, dodge this counterattack.
Dodge the Stronger Variation
In a stronger variation of the Rock Solid spell, Tiger Vanguard solidifies with his limbs on the ground, then you would lose your lock-on. He will reappear somewhere in the arena with a powerful attack. To avoid it, move to the arena's walls to prevent him from spawning behind you, and dodge when you hear the high-pitched ringing sound. At lower health, he may follow up with a sword slash.
Dodge the Fast Slash Attack
One of Tiger Vanguard's dangerous moves is a fast dashing slash. Before he executes this, he crouches slightly, brings his fingers to his face, and wields his sword behind him. Dodge as soon as the camera fully zooms out to avoid the attack.
