How to Beat Jiao-Loong of Waves

Jiao-Loong of Waves Strategy

Dodge Immediately Once You Step On the Water

You won't be able to see Jiao-Loong of Waves in the area yet since it's acutally submerged under water. Once you step on the water, it'll emerge and attack you from under water, and the fight officially starts. This happens extremely fast, but there's a tiny time window where you can still dodge it.

Although the attack doesn't do much damage, it'll definitely catch you off guard if you're not aware.

How to Dodge

Watch Out for Its Grab Attack

The Jiao-Loong of Waves has a strong grab attack where it knocks you up with its tail, then gnaws you down. Fortunately, it has an animation cue that it does to indicate that the attack is coming where it turns its back on you and tries to hit you with its tail. If you get hit by the tail, the grab attack begins, and you can't escape anymore.

Once you see it turn its back on you and bring its tail up, dodge it immediately to prevent you from getting hit.

Knock It Down With Heavy Attacks

The Jiao-Loong of Waves is quite frail compared to other bosses. Hitting it with heavy attacks knocks it down for a short while, giving you a chance to attack freely. Keep hitting it with heavy attacks to knock it down, then follow up with more damage.

Use the Plantain Fan Vessel

Alternatively, you can also use the Plantain Fan vessel to summon a hurricane that will constantly knock down the Jiao-Loong of Waves as long as it makes contanct with the boss. Make sure to follow up with attacks and spells while the boss keeps getting knocked down to make the most out of the hurricane.

Watch Out for Its Dive Attacks

The Jiao-Loong of Waves has an attack where it submerges into the water, making it untargettable, then resurfaces, dealing damage in an area. This attack is quite easy to dodge since you only have to roll away once you see bubbles forming on the water, which is the indication that the boss will be resurfacing.
