Chapter 3: White Snow Ice Cold Walkthrough Guide
The Yellowbrow fight consists of three phases. In the first and third phases, you battle Yellowbrow directly, while in the second phase, you face the Macaque Chief. After reaching the third phase, if you die, you'll respawn directly at the start of Phase 3, allowing you to continue the fight against Yellowbrow without having to repeat the earlier phases.
Yellowbrow serves as the final boss of Chapter 3. It's crucial to prepare thoroughly and ensure your strength and skills are at their peak.
Yellowbrow Strategy |
---|
|
After defeating the first two phases of the fight, you'll respawn just before the third phase if you die. You can use this opportunity to level up or collect useful items to prepare for Yellowbrow's final phase. This means you don't need to save your spells for the later phases so feel free to use them in phases 1 and 2.
Yellowbrow's attacks are slow and have poor tracking to his sides. The best strategy is to stay close, positioning yourself to his sides or behind him. This gives you plenty of opportunities to land hits while he recovers from his slow attacks.
In the third phase, Yellowbrow will enchant himself, turning gold and becoming invulnerable to Light Attacks. You can break this golden form by using normal or charged Heavy Attacks.
If you don't break Yellowbrow's golden form, he'll charge a powerful lightning attack that deals damage over a large area. Run to the edges of the arena to avoid getting hit
The A Pluck of Many spell won't work against Yellowbrow, as he will make the clones fight against you. Consider reallocating the Sparks spent on this spell to another one that will give you a better advantage in this fight.

Yellowbrow is a major antagonist in the novel Journey to the West. Once the Bodhisattva Matreiya's devoted servant boy, he steals Matreiya's Seedsack and Golden Cymbals and becomes a Yaoguai, setting up a temple and eventually impersonating the Buddha himself.
While Sun Wukong's companions fall for the ruse, the Monkey King sees throug his disguise and eventually defeats him after being advised by Maitreya to disguise himself as a Watermelon.
The events of the novel are referenced in game, with both the Keeper of the New West and the disguised Maitreya referencing Yellowbrow's original defeat in the novel. Similarly, Yellowbrow uses the Golden Cymbals to trap Zhu Bajie in the game and makes use of the Seedsack to entrap The Destined One during the fight with him.
