Immobilize is the first spell that you will unlock in the game. You will get this spell while fighting the first mini-boss, Bullguard, in Chapter 1.
This spell lets you freeze enemies and bosses for a short amount of time, allowing you to get some free hits.
Some of the upgrades you can get for Immobilize let you deal more damage against frozen enemies or extend the duration of the spell's effect.
How to Unlock Immobilize Spell
After you defeat the Black Wind King in Chapter 1, you will unlock the spell Cloud Step, which lets you escape from a fight while leaving a decoy behind. Your next attack, called an Unveiling Strike, will break your invisibility but can deal a huge amount of damage.
Upgrades for Cloud Step will improve how your decoy acts while you are invisible or improve the damage output of Unveiling Strike.
How to Unlock Cloud Step Spell
A Pluck of Many is a skill that you can get in Chapter 2. To get it, you need to defeat the Stone Vanguard to get a key item and defeat the Tiger Vanguard. Once you defeat the latter, interact with a statue nearby to uncover a hidden hatch, which leads to a sandy area where you can unlock the spell.
This spell will make Wukong make multiple copies of himself and attack nearby enemies, which makes it very useful against bosses. You can upgrade the spell to improve the damage of your duplicates or extend their duration.
How to Unlock A Pluck of Many Spell
Rock Solid is a spell that lets you parry attacks, as Wukong cannot parry attacks himself. You can get this spell after defeating the Tiger Vanguard in Chapter 2.
Rock Solid requires proper timing for it to be effective, as using it too early or too late will not work. Successfully parrying will deflect an enemy's attack, giving you some time to launch a counterattack.
Upgrades for this spell can improve your offense and defense after executing a parry, which can be worth getting once you master the timing.
How to Unlock Rock Solid Spell
The Ring of Fire is a defensive spell that increases your recovery while you are standing inside the flame circle. You can unlock this spell after defeating the Macaque Chief in Chapter 3.
Upgrades for the Ring of Fire can further boost recovery while inside the spell.
How to Unlock Ring of Fire Spell
Spell Binder is a combat-focused spell that takes away your ability to use any sort of Spell or Transformations in exchange for enhancing your physical attacks. You need to complete the treasure hunter NPC's questline in Chapter 3 to obtain this spell.
Upgrades for this spell further improve your offense while Spell Binder is active.
How to Unlock Spell Binder Spell
The Somersault Cloud allows Wukong to ride the iconic floating cloud to quickly explore any location. Although it is the only exploration spell in the game, it is also only usable in Chapter 6, where you will unlock the spell.
As this is a very limited spell, the Somersault Cloud does not have any skill trees and cannot be upgraded.

Life-Saving Strand is a spell that you can unlock during the beginning of a New Game Plus save. This spell automatically revives the Destined One after depleting his health bar, with the caveat of having a ten minute cooldown.
How to Unlock Life-Saving Strand Spell

Spirits can be closely associated with spells as they allow Wukong to use a one-time move during combat with its own cooldown.
Spirits are obtained after defeating certain bosses and capturing their essence.
Transformations, on the other hand, are different from Spirits and spells, as these let Wukong transform into another creature and use unique attacks during combat over a short period of time instead of a one-time action.
Spells are unique moves that you can use during combat. These moves are unlocked as you progress and defeat bosses in the game's chapters.
Spells can either help you deal more damage or give you some breathing room if used defensively, but try to use them at the right time, as they have their own mana costs and cooldowns.
There are three main types of spells in the game, which are Mysticism, Alteration, and Strand Spells. You can only equip one spell per type, so try to use spells that fit your playstyle.
Each spell, with the exception of Somersault Cloud, will have their own skill trees in the Self-Advance menu after unlocking them.
Similar to the Foundation and Staff Stance trees, each of the nodes has its own requirements and Spark costs.
