To open chests, simply walk up to them, and interact with the chest, similar to picking up items in the overworld.
Some chests are just left in the open, but in some cases, they are guarded by enemies, which you should defeat first before you can open the chest.
Unlike normal enemies, chests do not respawn when you rest in Shrines.
Chests can provide useful materials or gear, but some of its common rewards like Yarn and Gold can be farmed through other means.
