Treasure Hunter Quest Guide

Black Myth: Wukong features a sidequest in Chapter 3 where you need to help out a Treasure Hunter NPC to get the Spell Binder spell as a reward. Keep reading for how to start the quest, how to find the Treasure Hunter, and how to defeat the Green-Capped Martialist!

Save the Treasure Hunter From Cyan Bats Use the Ring on Fire on the Treasure Hunter Go to The Melon Field Buddha Statue Obtain the Spell Binder Spell

Save the Treasure Hunter From Cyan Bats

Start the Quest at the North Shore of the Bitter Lake

Start the quest by heading to the direction opposite the North Shore of the Bitter Lake Shrine. There will be a temple there where the Treasure Hunter is being attacked by some Cyan Bats. After saving him, make sure to exhaust his dialogue option.

Head Immediately to the Towers of Karma Shrine if Zhu Baije Leaves

If Zhu Baizhe isn't with you anymore, you can immediately head to the Towers of Karma Shrine and skip to using the Ring of Fire on the Treasure Hunter.

Use the Ring on Fire on the Treasure Hunter

Head to the Towers of Karma Shrine as the Treasure Hunter is near it sitting on a tree. Refer to the image above to see where the Treasure Hunter can be found.

Once you find him, you need to use the Ring of Fire near him to progress the quest. Like last time, you need to exhaust his dialogue option.

Go to The Melon Field Buddha Statue

After placing the Ring of Fire for the Treasure Hunter, you can head to or teleport to the Melon Field Shrine. To the left of the shrine, there is a Buddha statue.

Make sure you're prepared if you walk towards it as it will trigger the boss fight against the Treasure Hunter “Green-Capped Martialist”.

How to Get to the Melon Field Shrine

Facing the Forest of Felicity shrine, there will be an arch in front of you. Head down the slope next to it and follow the path until you reach a flooded area. Look for the Crow Diviner in the river and follow it downstream and you will see three nemies next to two torches.

Between the torches you can drop down the cliff and then drop down a winding tree to get to the Melon Field shrine at the bottom.

Obtain the Spell Binder Spell by Defeating the Green-Capped Martialist

Once you defeat the Green-Capped Martialist, you can obtain the Spell Binder Mysticism spell! Using this will significantly boost your Attack power in exchange of locking you out of your other spells and transformations!

Use Azure Dust or Rock Solid When He Disappears, Don't Lock on the Enemy Upgrade and Use the Immobilize Spell Equip the Fireproof Mantle

Use Azure Dust or Rock Solid

The Green-Capped Martialist 's attacks are fast and repetitive. Focus on tanking its attacks and counterattacking immediately.

When He Disappears, Don't Lock on the Enemy

When he turns into rings, make sure you're not locked into him as the rings will run over you especially if he finally unleashes two rings and leaving you blindsided with the other ring hitting you from behind.

Upgrade and Use the Immobilize Spell

The Immobilize spell is an important tool to upgrade as it gives you an opportunity to fight back and another chance to stagger the boss. Be careful of using the Immobilize spell during the an enemies attack, as if doesn't stagger after the spell, it will hit you afterwards.

Equip the Fireproof Mantle

Wear the Fireproof Mantle so you can be immune to being burned. This will also increase your focus and you can use the Pole Stance to evade some of his devastating moves. The Fireproof Mantle can be obtained by completing the Secret Area from Chapter 1.
