Build Explanation

This is a defensive build that uses items and equipment that heavily boosts your Defense stat. Even though this is a more defensive build, it can still do massive amounts of damage once you have the Dark Iron Staff, since it increases your Attack based on your Defense stat.

The Bull King's set is obtained after beating the Chapter 5 Secret Area. However, you won't have enough materials needed to complete the set, so you'll have to replay the game on New Game+ for the full set, including the staff.

Weapon Explanation

The best weapon for this build by far is the Dark Iron Staff since it increases your Attack based on how much Defense you have. However, this is a New Game+ exclusive weapon, so you can use the Jingubang staff in the meantime.

Also, you can use the Adept Spine-Shooting Fuban Staff for heals whenever you hit with a Heavy Attack. It synergizes incredibly well with the Bull King's Mask since it grants you Focus whenever you're hit or staggered.

Armor Explanation

By far the best Armor set for this build is the Bull King's Armor Set. This is because it has incredibly high base Defense, and it also gives you even more Defense anytime you get hit.

Although, once you get to New Game+++ and can activate every single Relic Perk, the Fortune's Favor Set becomes significantly better due to it giving the highest Defense in the game!

The best Gourd and Drink combo is the usual Supreme Gourd and Monkey Brew combination. However, the Drink can be improved into the Jade Dew once you get the extra Awakened Wine Worms needed in New Game+.

Spells Explanation

The recommended spells for this build are Ring of Fire, Rock Solid, and Azure Dust since they provide a lot of safety to help whittle down the boss. However, you can also use the more offensive option of Spell Binder if you wish.

It should be mentioned that you can also use Life-Saving Strand over A Pluck of Many if you prefer, but this build is already very defense-heavy, so you won't likely need the free revive.
