Yin Tiger can be found in Zodiac Village, Village Entrance. Starting from the shrine there, take the path that's lit with torches. The Yin Tiger is the one with the giant sword stationed at a blacksmith. To fight the boss, you must talk to it, then select Challenge.
You can fight the Yin Tiger multiple times after beating it initially. Just talk to it and select Challenge when you want to fight it again.
Yin Tiger Strategy |
---|
|
At the start of the fight, the Ying Tiger will sharpen its blade. While it's doing that, do not attack it since it will just deflect all of your attacks and store it as energy that it'll use to perform its powerful AOE slam attack.
It's best to just wait for it to stop sharpening its blade before attacking.
One strategy you can use to defeat the Yin Tiger is to use Spellseal at the start or before using any other spells since the attack boost is proportional to how much mana you have.
Although it will prevent you from using other spells, having the increased damage will help a lot in depleting the Yin Tiger's HP.
Another strategy you can use is to equip the Non-Pure Armor set. The set grants bonus damage reduction when using spirit skills. It also increases might recovery after being stained with mud, which happens when you transform.
One of the best transformation against the Yin Tiger, especially when you equip the Non-Pure armor set, is the Hoarfrost due to its Avalanche attack. Upon transformation, use heavy attacks to do wide-sweeping attacks and generate energy for its special.
Once you generate enough energy, use Avalache, which changes Hoarfrost's moveset to throwing snowballs at the target. However, make sure to use Avalanche away from the boss to avoid getting interrupted.
Use light attacks to quickly throw snowballs at the boss and aim for a freeze.
It's important to note that Immobilize is essentially useless against the Yin Tiger, since it will just teleport out of the spell when you attack it while it's immobilized. Save your mana for other spells like Spellseal or Pluck of Many instead.
One of the Yin Tiger's most devastating attacks is letting out a roar. If you get hit by the roar, you'll get stunned, and the Yin Tiger will attack you a few times. This attack is essentially a grab attack since you can't escape it, so it's best to avoid getting hit by the roar.
The Yin Tiger will occasionally vanish, then appear near you to attack you. Once you see it teleporting, just run around the arena and dodge its attacks until it stops, and don't bother attacking it whenever it appears since it will just vanish again quickly.
Wind Tamer and Pluck of Many are useful spells against the Yin Tiger. Use Wind Tamer to knock back the boss and increase your damage. Use Pluck of Many to deal more damage, but make sure to use it away from the boss to avoid getting interrupted.
