Defeating enemies and bosses is the fastest way to level up in Black Myth: Wukong. Read on to learn ways on how to level up fast and the best spots to farm EXP in each chapter!
List of Contents
It's best to explore each area thoroughly as you progress the story, and clear out all enemies and bosses scattered within them. Remember that the points given by enemies vary. Those that are easier to defeat give less while those that are harder to defeat give more. On the other hand, bosses, such Yaoguai Chiefs and Yaoguai Kings, give the most points.
Moreover, you can rest using Shrines to respawn enemies, allowing you to clear the area indefinitely and farm enemies there. With that in mind, it's best to find an area where there is a Shrine nearby, so you can repeat the process quickly.

Chapter | EXP Farming Areas |
---|---|
1 |
• Bamboo Grove: Snake Trail • Forest of Wolves: Outside the Forest |
2 | • Fright Cliff: Rockrest Flat |
The best EXP farming spot in Chapter 1 is the path from the Snake Trail Shrine until the arena where you fight Guangmou just before the Marsh of White Mist Shrine. This path has four Snake Patrollers you can fight, which give 175 EXP each when defeated.
Just make sure to stock up on Antimiasma Powder, use the Gall Gem soak in your Gourd if you have it, and equip as many Poison-resisting items you can such as the Serpentscale Gaiters and Bracers. Snake Patrollers can easily poison you, which can quickly eat at your health.
If you haven't unlocked the Snake Trail yet and are struggling to get through the bosses along the way, a good early grinding spot is the Forest of Wolves near the Outside the Forest Shrine.
A lot of enemies can be encountered here. Circle the whole area and defeat all the enemies you encounter, then rest up at the Shrine for all of them to respawn again. Repeat this until you feel like you're ready to move on.

---|---|
Spearbone |
Palestone |
For Chapter 2, the best place to farm EXP is the area near the Rockrest Flat Shrine in Fright Cliff. There are four Spearbones in this area that give 275 EXP each and three Palestones that give 127 EXP each.
Two Spearbones (one with a shield) and a Palestone can be found in front of the Shrine. Another Spearbone can be found near the stairs to the right of the Shrine along with two Palestones, and one Spearbone with a shield is in the area behind the Shrine. Another Spearbone that gives a Spirit can be fought near the sand waterfall on top of the stairs, but this doesn't respawn.
It's best to equip and upgrade the Rock Solid spell to easily break the shields of the two shield-carrying Spearbones. The Palestones can be easily defeated with a Light Attack combo, especially if you've unlocked the Punishing Downpour upgrade.
